What We’re Doing
Simply put, we are raising money! KILL ME is an independent short film with intent on becoming a feature and continuing the fine tradition of entertaining audiences with non-traditional and unique storylines. Producer Vinay Chand and award-winning writer/director Damon Silvester have put together KILL ME, a short film about an elderly woman who only wants to be reunited with the man she loves. The problem is that he's dead and she has more life in her than she knows what to do with. Because of her religious beliefs, she is against suicide, so she has to come up with a cunning way of getting someone to kill her. You can get the full synopsis / plot and details of the film at www.killmefilm.blogspot.com
KILL ME will be a stylish, well-polished movie that will distinguish itself from the pack of many other low-budget short films by its look and content. That is why we are raising $25,000 to make the movie - but, we are only asking you to donate $10,000 of that. If you want to help us raise the full amount, or even more, we will not complain! Heck, we'll even reward you for it!
Why We’re Doing It
Everybody has a dream. Vinay and Damon have been working hard on television and movie projects to meet people and learn about the industry. But, in the end, directing and producing are our career paths. More importantly, telling a good story visually is our passion. We are both Americans born to immigrant families and possess a desire to see diversity in quality films. U.S.A. is just too varied a country to be telling the same stories with the same people in them. We would like to change that. Will you join us?
Can I Donate Goods and Services rather than money?
DEFINITELY! Splendid idea! If you are acquainted with or have worked with Vinay or Damon or you have no idea who we are and simply like our names, and are in a position to provide any goods or services (cameras, equipment, food, locations, yourself, etc.), we would be more than happy to take you up on the offer. We are putting this together from scratch and any and all help is welcomed. If you are willing to do this, please email us at email@example.com.
Can I Gift A Reward?
Of Course! If you would like to donate to the film but give the reward to someone as a gift, go through all the normal process of making a donation in your name. For billing purposes, this action must be in your name. After our deadline, we will send a message to you on Kickstarter. (It will be forwarded to the email address you provided) We will request things like your phone number and address from you at that time. Please reply with all the person’s information that is to receive the reward. We will make sure they are the person who receives the reward.
Now that the film is funded, when will it release?
Still to be determined. Filming is slated for the the beginning of March 2011 (funding pending) and post-production will begin soon after filming is complete. The plan is to have the movie in festivals by the fall of 2011. Rest assured all of us involved will make sure YOU know when and where it’s due to release.
Can I increase my pledge once it’s been made?
YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.
What happens if the money isn’t raised in time?
Unfortunately nothing. If our goal isn’t met before the deadline, no money changes hands and no movie is made. We want to avoid this scenario at all cost!
Can we exceed the goal?
YES! What an amazing problem to have. Kickstarter will allow as much money as is given before the deadline. Maybe that would mean a more widespread theater release, or more unique physical copy packaging. The possibilities are endless.
How do you contact us?
Glad you asked! You can contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. We check it. We will get back to you. We promise!
Is my donation tax deductible?
Unfortunately not. We are not a non-profit and donations are raw gifts. Non-tax deductible.
If I donate, when can I redeem the reward?
All rewards, big and small, will only happen if our goal is met. If we do meet our goal, immediately after our deadline we will start to manufacture and ship all physical merchandise directly to you. It will be our priority to schedule the more personal incentives as soon as possible. You will hear from us. (More on this as we get closer to our deadline)
Who does the money go to?
Every penny (minus the fees for Kickstarter’s involvement) will go directly to Producer Vinay Chand's movie budget - i.e. Your money goes directly to the funding of this film.
Why ask for $10,000 if the budget is $25,000?
We are desperate to make this movie and have so much conviction in the project that we just want to get it started. $10,000 will get the ball rolling on filming. But we need more to finish the film. Anything investors pledge over $10,000 will help get the film made faster, and will produce a better movie. Our goal is imperative for the film to be a reality.
Any other questions? Just ask us. We’d be stoked to answer them. email@example.com
