Bad Jimmy's Brewing Co. is made up of 5 beer lovers who met in Seattle, Washington. Individually, our love for craft beer has been intense as long as we can remember. Together we are committed to the love we share for the brand we created. It is our mission to ensure that Bad Jimmy's Brewing Co. consistently offers the most innovative creations when it comes to craft beer. We love our beer. We want to share our love with you.
OUR MISSION = OUR PASSION + OUR PROMISE
At Bad Jimmy's Brewing Co. we stand behind our belief in and love for what we do and create. We know that the quality of our product is and always will be a direct reflection of the high standards we are committed to and will be remembered by. Our mission is to reinvent intensity as it exists in the craft beer world. We will do this with creative combinations of the highest quality ingredients for which we see no substitute. *Our beer list is included below*
In a world where deviating from the norm is often discouraged and frowned upon, we want to break the tradition and offer an escape- where being different is not only encouraged but also celebrated. We believe that if being different is bad we don't want to be good. We feel that to be different is to be brave, to be bold, and to be true to one's character. We embrace different in our lives and in our beer. Good enough is not good enough. This perspective is at the heart of our brand and enjoyed in our beer.
The hard work, courage, and determined motivation to chase down our own dream has positively influenced the bold flavors of our high hopped ales. Developed over time and crafted with experience, our recipes offer a well-rounded balance to the boldness we prefer in beer. We are thrilled to share these delicious flavors with you. What we believe to be true in life, we also believe to be true for beer:
Use the good china. Drink the good beer.
Savor every sip of intensity you can swallow.
Here's a look at the progression of our brewery build-out:
We made an effort to reuse pallets and rework, resize, and bring back the original grain of these rustic pieces of wood. It was a lot of work but we think it was worth the extra effort to restore these boards to their original beauty. We take this same approach in how we make our beer in that it is always worth it to take the extra step to bring out the best possible flavors in each and every one of our brews.
The 5 owners of Bad Jimmy's have been working in the restaurant industry for over 50 years combined. We know late nights, busy nights, and long slow ones that leave too much time for daydreaming. Used to these consistently late nights, we are committed to being open 7 days a week starting the day we open.
Bad Jimmy's Tasting Room Hours:
Sunday - Thursday: Noon to Midnight
Friday - Saturday: Noon to 2am
We will be opening with these beers on draft:
Billy and John have received recognition for their original beer recipes entering them in homebrew competitions both regionally as well as nationally. Their brews have always taken home the gold when entered, however with the bigger picture in mind they have had the courage to decline the accolades in order to keep their recipes their own instead of handing them over to receive the hardware. Homebrew competitions require you hand over your hard work and recipes in order to claim the top prize. While it was hard to turn down, they both realized they wanted to do something bigger with their love of craft beer and share it with as many people as possible.

Risks and challenges
Our first challenge has been the ongoing construction of the brewery itself. This project started back in January when we began leasing the building which was a crossfit gym before we came along. For us this meant changing the entire use of the space into the functional beer making house we've all dreamed of. The build-out has included everything from drilling the concrete floors to install drains, building walls, painting walls, building a walk-in cooler big enough to store the amount of kegs we will produce now for our own tasting room + distribution to local bars + accommodate estimated growth needs, building a bar, back-bar, and everything you can think of needing should you be crazy (in a good way!) enough to build your own brewery one day. Who knew that submitting plans, waiting for approvals of permits with knotted stomachs, and the inspection of things you never knew were required ... would take many more months than ever imagined. When do we get to make beer?!? ... Each step of this challenge has been a pretty incredible life changing realization. As these steps bring us closer to our end goal of making Bad Jimmy's beer on a large scale to share with the world, they seem less like challenges and more like small rewards along the way. We are overwhelmed with relief and joy upon completion of every task, the approval of every permit, and the immediate feeling of success that fills the air when we all agree on a "small detail". We are a strong minded and strong willed group. The hold-ups and set-backs, while disturbing at the time have resulted in valuable insight and lessons along the way. Looking back it all makes sense and happened for a reason- maybe something took longer than we expected, or we had to buy something(s) we hadn't anticipated. However, through each one of these challenges we have gained the knowledge and experience to create an even better product we can't wait to share with you.
We realize that there are risks and challenges in opening up a business in any sector, however, here are some comforting truths.
Craft beer has seen a steady rise over the past three years realizing a 12% growth in 2010, a 15% growth in 2011, and a 15% growth in 2012. Half yearly projections for 2013 indicate between a 17-20% growth as more and more consumers are appreciating the wide range of flavors offered as well as realizing the art that is craft beer.
One of the deepest rooted communities in the craft beer world is Ballard WA. Redhook Brewing was the first microbrewery to call Ballard home. While they have since moved their facilities, the tradition of craft beer continues with Bad Jimmy's Brewing Co. being the tenth brewery to make it's home within a one mile radius. The brewing community in Ballard is one of the most unique and friendly communities in the world where traditional values such as helping your friends and welcoming your neighbors is paramount. We are proud to be joining this community and strive to continue the values and passion for beer making that has been around for over three decades.
