Roll For Guild wants players to spend more time playing the games they love and less time planning. We’re building an online platform of tools that enable players to find and form groups, as well as make running campaigns and one shots easier.
It's happened to all of us: Someone from your tabletop group moves away and you struggle to fill their seat. You find yourself scouring forums, harassing strangers, and pulling the little "Call Me" tabs off the bottoms of flyers at game shops.
Technology has advanced considerably since the first print of Dungeons & Dragons, yet we haven’t used it to address the problems we face. This is why we started building Roll For Guild, and why we continue to do so.
We’re building tools that enable players to form and find groups locally and around the world, as well as building tools that make managing campaigns simple.
But in order for us to bring our marvel to the masses, we need your help.
At Roll For Guild, we love stories. The story of Roll For Guild is a group of everyday individuals coming together to solve problems; so long as those problems are getting a group of adventurers together to play tabletop RPGs. Our goal simple: bring people together in the physical world, so that they can explore the fantasy, sci-fi, and other worlds that they love. Now we find ourselves at the precipice of our adventure.
Group Finder & Forums
Our group finder and forums enable players to find each other and manage sessions with ease. Soon, we’ll be expanding our these features so users can schedule events, chat with fellow players, and search by games they’re interested in.
We’re building all the tools you need to manage your campaign from your first encounter to your final dungeon run. With Roll For Guild, you’ll be able to send surveys, schedule your sessions, and RSVP for events within your group. Once we've gained enough experience points, we plan to take Roll For Guild to the next level. We are looking at developing Guilds: tools for large scale game nights like Adventurer's League and Pathfinder Society. There are also some long term plans for campaign management, including keeping track of character sheets, NPCs, using content from your favorite systems… Wait… I don’t think I was supposed to tell anybody that…
We’re also helping players go digital so you spend less time flipping through handbooks and manuals. You’ll be able to access our wiki and view character and NPC stats online during your session. And the best part? We’re keeping our tools rule system agnostic so our tools can be used by warriors, druids, and starship captains alike. We want to cater to everyone in the RPG community: a drow working the night shift, a space smuggler that travels for work, or a new player that has never seen a die with more than six sides.
You, my generous, philanthropic, and most-willing-to-donate comrade, have a variety of options to help us out:
Pledge your support!
One of the most amazing things you could do is pledge your support here on Kickstarter! Every dollar you donate will go towards preventing our developers from literally eating each other.
Spread the word!
The more people that hear about what we’re doing, the more opportunities there are for others to help us out! Share our Kickstarter on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Forums, MySpace, Zynga, Friendster — whatever so that we reach as many people as possible.
Are you ready for this adventure? We are.
Risks and challenges
We’re level 1 adventurers in the world of Kickstarter.
Although we’re excited about the road ahead, we expect to encounter some fierce obstacles. We’ve planned for some great rewards, but they’re going to take some time. The more creative they are, the more work we need to invest to bring them to you in the real world! We’re confident that we can manage delivering everything we promised and we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date with how we’re doing on delivering your rewards.
Building a community
In order for us to succeed, we need a solid community behind us. While we’re committed to building and engaging with the entire TTRPG community, carving out our own slice of that is hard! The hardest part by far is convincing you, your friends, your family, your neighbors, and that friend of your parents you never talk to but who always shows up at family gatherings and you can never quite remember his name… *ahem* to join us on this adventure.
Finishing the project
The RPG community has been asking for these tools for a long time. Several other companies have attempted to develop tools, but those projects have either disappeared or are not fully functional. Our team, however, has experience bringing products to market, and we’ve already laid out a roadmap to ensure we can sustain the project for a long time. The biggest challenge here is making sure we hit our milestones, in terms of both growth and revenue.
There’s a lot of work ahead...
We’re a small team and we have a lot of work ahead of us. It’s taken us four months to get the group finder to where it is today. With the help of this Kickstarter, we’ll be able to supercharge development to pump out more features faster, but that means more work for us. While we’re up for the challenge, it’s certainly not something we can just shrug off.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
