Greater Things is a collection of worship songs I've written over the past few years, along with one or two songs written by friends.
The songs on the Greater Things are great for personal worship at home, or in small groups or large gatherings. Some of them (like Iron and Abide in Me) are already being played at churches around the country. My friends and I have lived these songs. They're about the kinds of things we all go through in our lives; joy, thankfulness, lament, challenge and encouragement. My hope and prayer is that we can produce music which can be part of the soundtrack of your life with Jesus.
Greater Things will be produced by Chris Lizotte and Marc Ford. I've wanted to work with them for quite a while, partly because when I hear their music, I can tell they could do some really awesome things with mine. There's an organic, genuine feel to their sound which I think will be perfect for the songs and help the worship experience thrive. I'm excited at the chance to work with them and friends like Ryan Delmore. We'll be recording at Jasmine Sound, in San Clemente, CA.
I've estimated the cost of this project to be $14,750, which will include studio time, paying producers and musicians, along with mixing and mastering; plus the cost of physical production of cd's and promotional material.
Over on the right side of this page, you'll see the levels of support you can select. You can join in any time, but the funding goal must be reached by Sunday, Aug 3 at 11:00pm PST. Greater Things will happen with your support! I'm honored to have the chance to invite you to be a partner in the journey!
Here's a live version of one of the songs we'll be recording, Abide in Me.
Risks and challenges
This is an interesting project, in that it involves traveling 400 miles to record a project in 3 or 4 days beginning on August 21. I'm extremely excited about the songs and have complete confidence in the people involved. The main challenge is raising all of the funding before we go into the studio. This is an all or nothing proposition. I'm counting on spiritual and relational capital to make the financial capital of this project happen. So, if the funding happens, the project goes on. If not, I'll go on writing songs and leading worship in my community.
After recording, Chris and Marc will take some time mixing it, and then it will be sent out to be mastered. Once mastered, we send the master off for cd production and digital production. I hope to have the finished product in your hands by November 2014.
