Thanks to our Backers, MonkeyOh is now in tooling and will be launching in the summer of 2013. If you’re interested in receiving one and missed the opportunity to join our Kickstarter, please send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or visit www.meetfelix.com where we will be taking orders in the future.
If you're tired of cable clutter, or worse, not being able to find your charging cable, join us in our fight against cord clutter. Your pledge can make the difference between a clean counter-top and a cluttered home. With flexible arms, sturdy feet, a rubber non-skid bottom, and a cord managing power adapter 'backpack", MonkeyOh is not only a clever charging dock, but it's also a helpful stand for your iPhone or iPod touch.
Here are just some of the uses you can enjoy with your MonkeyOh:
- Charging dock: Simply slide your Apple power adapter into MonkeyOh's "backpack" slot, plug the USB end of the power cord into his mouth and wrap the cord around the backpack. MonkeyOh is now a perfectly organized charging dock just waiting for your phone or iPod touch. The clever design eliminates cord clutter from your counter while leaving the upper plug accessible.
- Watching videos/movies: Stretch MonkeyOh's arms and he'll grab hold of any iPhone, iPod touch and most smartphones in landscape mode, providing the perfect stand for watching videos and movies.
- FaceTime/Skype/Teleconference: However you like to keep in touch, MonkeyOh holds your phone or iPod touch in portrait at just the right angle during a call, leaving your hands free.
We designed MonkeyOh to work with all iPhones and iPod touches, both with or without a case. Lightning connector or old school 30 pin, MonkeyOh's got you covered. Want to use MonkeyOh with a non-Apple device? You can do that too, as long as you have an Apple power adapter (as shown above) and a USB power cord.
International Compatibility: Unfortunately, MonkeyOh's backpack doesn't fit all power adapters. MonkeyOh only works as a charging dock when paired with the small, square Apple power adapter made for the US market (as shown above).
Please Note: MonkeyOh does not come with an Apple device, an Apple power adapter, or an Apple charging/sync cord. (Interested in MonkeyOh coming with his own power adapter and cord? Let us know and we'll look into what it would take to add this to one of the Pledge packs!)
HOME & AWAY PLEDGE PACK comes with a SmallHands travel stand in your choice of color: Black, White, Red, Pink, Blue or Green.
Where we are with our little monkey...
and how you can help.
After numerous design iterations and months of prototyping, the team at Felix has refined our little monkey into what you see in the pictures today. We've built numerous prototypes throughout this process and have been using the most recent ones for over a month now. We love 'em.
With the design completed, up next is tooling so we can start making this little monkey in quantity! That's where you come in. Reaching our pledge goal will help us move forward with the initial product run. We'll be sure to share lots of pictures and updates along the way and would love to hear from you as we go through this Kickstarter together.
And for those who want to wear their pledge of support, check out the Pledge packs to the right for an opportunity to receive a limited edition "I Kicked It" MonkeyOh T-shirt.
Felix is a new company striving to shake things up a bit by creating tech accessories with simple, intuitive benefits embedded in witty and refined designs. Designs that, if we're lucky, make you smile while making it easier for you to use the technology you love.
The opportunity to crowdsource a new product launch through Kickstarter is an amazing benefit for inventors. It helps to reduce risk while also providing us with the opportunity to hear firsthand input from the most important people - you, the end user - getting your input before the product has even shipped. Amazing.
Funding from this project will be used in support of the initial production run. Depending on our success, it may also help to offset tooling and some of the development cost we have already incurred - patent fees, development fees and LOTS of prototyping . All this is to say, you Kickstarter community, are changing the game for inventors and entrepreneurs. And for that, we are grateful.
Please share with any friends you think might enjoy MonkeyOh.
We need your help to succeed.
Retailer, distributor, or just interested in larger quantities?
We'd love to hear from you too! Drop us a line at: email@example.com
Pleased to meet you.

Risks and challenges
Launching a new product always has it challenges, but we happen to think that's all part of the fun! And this isn't our first rodeo, so to speak... we have successfully launched 3 new products within the last six months (you can see more at: www.meetfelix.com). Our Founder, Chris Michaud, has over 15 years of new product development experience including more than 10 years at Continuum where he worked with many of the world's top brands to bring new products to market. That said, this is our first time on KickStarter, and we are VERY excited about working with the Kickstarter community! We've been inspired by other Kickstarter successes and we have taken the time to study some of the projects that have and haven't gone so smoothly to learn from their mistakes and successes. It's very important to us that this be fun for all involved.
So before we get into the details of where the risks are, I want to share with you our Pledge to you. In return for your support, we Pledge to:
(1) Work our tails off to keep to our timelines and our commitments.
(2) Keep you informed of our progress with updates at least every other week.
(3) When challenges come up, we will share them openly and let you know how we plan to address them.
CHALLENGES & RISKS
For a simple little design, MonkeyOh is actually a pretty complicated part to mold. To address this, we are working with the same manufacturing partner that makes our other products. They have been amazing partners on each of our efforts to date and we expect nothing short of that with MonkeyOh. We've also taken this into consideration as we put together our production plan allowing for a reasonable tooling, TI (initial tooling run), T2 (2nd tooling run) and production schedule.
Given how well our prototypes work, I don't believe the design represents any significant risk, so the majority of risk is in tooling/production. Of course something crazy could happen, like the world's supply of polycarbonate runs out, but without something crazy like that happening, we should be able to manage the challenges.
