Player beta and game balance plans
Game balance is a HUGE thing to get right or wrong in an RTS with RPG elements, and tweaking it a lot after the game is released only hurts your players. So how do we, a VERY small group of people, plan to get this right? Easy, we crowd source it to our backers!
All of our backers will be invited to join our balance testing and be given two urls. One is to a spreadsheet that is all of the game balance metrics, and the other is to allow them to play the game in a special mode that points to their own unique set of balance metrics. Every one of our balance testing backers can play with their set of numbers for as long as we leave this section of beta open.
Once we close that section of the beta, we'll pull in all the numbers and average them (throwing out the crazy outliers), and then we'll run through a new beta test with everyone on one set of balance numbers to see how the game feels at this point.
