We want to keep the Kickstarter project simple, so the reward levels to the right are easy to understand. Pick your reward tier first from the options on the right (especially if you want one of the limited edition items). Then, if you want to add more products (extra decks, uncut sheets, stretch goal items, etc.) refer to the add-on section below. If Prism: Day is unlocked, the rewards with the Prism: Day deck will be split. For example, if you pledge for 4 decks, you will receive 2 Prism: Day and 2 Prism: Night. If it is not unlocked you will receive the correct number of decks in Prism: Night.
Note about currency: As we are based in Sydney, Australia, all funding is priced in Australian dollars (AUD). We have included an approximate USD conversion for all the reward tiers and add-ons.
Prism: Night will be produced and fulfilled by Legends Playing Card Company (LPCC), using their Diamond finish on casino grade black core imported paper stock. The box comes with 54 standard poker sized playing cards.
LPCC produces the highest class of playing cards due to their innovation and attention to detail with exceptional durability, ultra-precise printing registration, and the ‘glass like’ edges of their signature ‘Diamond Cut’ process.
There are 2 decks in the Prism range: Prism: Night and Prism: Day. Prism: Night is the inky blackness of night cut through by the radial beams of light which highlight the color underneath. Prism: Day is set in the brilliance of light, with the warm radial light pouring out of the mirrored edged, accentuating the form of the symbols.
The designs feature a special gloss ink; shiny, raised and smooth to highlight the light beams, the symbols and corner indices and numbers, which gives the card texture you can feel. The pictures do not do this finish justice – it is incredible to hold and looks awesome! When you move the cards, the light literally sparkles off every facet of the light beams! We’ve tried to capture some of the images, but the real thing is simply breathtaking when you first pull it out of the box. This is slightly thinner and neater than the MPC 'impression' gloss (used on the prototypes); really an incredible technology which give Prism: Night the unique WOW factor of purpose-designed gloss playing cards. This will certainly be the centerpiece of any games night, poker tournament, card display, personal collection or anything else you can imagine – they are that cool. Check out the pictures, or skip straight to the cool video we made just a bit further down.
We would like to be upfront and as clear as possible. The prototype deck (the pictures shown here) are printed by MPC as they are the only company with this type of technology that will print single units at a time. This is the first time LPCC have produced cards using high gloss faces (it is the first for anyone except MPC for that matter, and even they have not used this new ink), so there are literally no other projects like this. The gloss ink that will be on the final product will be thinner and neater than what is shown. The awesome shine will be the same, but there will be less production flaws, less impact to overall handling and greater durability - all good things!
The aces have retained their traditional forms, but each one has a different radial focal point which highlights their form.
The court cards have been designed to be reminiscent of traditional form while still being unique. The warm light radiates out from their objects, illuminating every detail of their specially crafted forms.
The Jokers were uniquely designed to be the ultimate expression of prismatic reflective light. 4 rays of light; shining from a singularity and reflecting off one edge revealing the color below gives perfect finale to the theme of the deck.
The card back is a true 2-way image, combining the bold radial lines with the beauty of light reflecting through a prism. The backs are printed without the special gloss layer to maximize ease of shuffling, dealing and cardistry. The hypnotic pattern looks great in fans and flourishes!
The Prism ‘Night’ deck comes packaged in a predominantly black tuckbox with intricate textured high gloss regions accentuating the radial light. This is the same shiny smooth gloss ink as the card faces, so you can feel the patterned design under your fingers. This box will come with a custom Elephant Playing Cards seal, or a numbered gold foil seal if that stretch goal is unlocked.
We've also made a video showing how the box and cards look in real life! Looking at pictures is one thing, but you need to see it as it is to really appreciate this:
Victor Jose has also kindly done a deck review of the Prism: Night playing cards! If you've wondered what it looks like in the hands of a more competent card-man (including how it handles), check out the video below :)
The uncut sheet is the star of this project! You can see how good the shiny gloss layer looks on the regular cards, just imagine how good it looks all as one unit! Make sure to pick up one of these sheets now, because they are unlike any uncut sheet you have ever seen and will look incredible!
We’ve created a custom uncut sheet layout for this project to highlight the radial colors and accentuate the court cards. The glossy detail looks incredible all together; a very impressive and eye catching piece of art that would look fantastic on any wall!
Uncut sheets will ship unframed. The distributor will take every precaution to safely pack these, however minor scuffs, scratches, or creases may occur at the far edges of the sheets. These blemishes are unavoidable and are usually easily covered after it is framed.
We have no plans to reprint these decks, so they will be a unique limited time item.
If you are not a backer in the USA, make sure to pledge the international amount. If you want to add some posters, remember that they ship from AUSTRALIA, so everywhere outside Australia (including USA) is INTERNATIONAL!
If you want to purchase 24 decks or more (2 bricks), send us a message for special bulk discount rates!
This table will be updated as stretch goals are unlocked. Instructions on how to add more products to your pledge is below.
What project is complete without some tantalizing stretch goals to make it interesting?
If the Prism: Day stretch goal is reached, the second deck of this campaign will be unlocked! Prism: Day features incredibly intricate gloss layer on all faces, but instead of the inky blackness of night, this is set in the bright radiance of day. The patterns and detailing of the gloss and texture on all the cards will be different between the decks - this is not a simple card swap.
Prism: Day will be limited to 1000 units, only 800 of which will be available on kickstarter. The extra decks will be used to correct any lost shipping, and for later sale on the EPC website (coming soon!). They are not available as add-ons, but only on the limited tiers when pledged for with Prism: Night. It comes with a numbered seal, full gloss printed tuckbox, and all the awesomeness of the Prism range!
Uncut sheets of Prism: Day are also available as an add on, and will be added to the add-on table if the goal is reached.
The posters will be A2 size (23.3" x 16.5") printed on glossy art paper and shipped separately to the cards. Each poster will be hand signed on the bottom by the creator of Prism.
The deck seals which will be automatically included when unlocked will be applied by LPCC to each deck, with the perforated tear line carefully aligned with the tuckbox lid.
We will be using Backerkit for this project which will allow you to easily get the right rewards you want and help us streamline the fulfillment process so you get your cards faster!
Adding rewards is simple:
1) After you have pledged to the project, go to the blue ‘manage my pledge’ button on the top right of the page.
2) With reference to the Add-ons table above, increase your pledge amount by the total of the add-ons you want to add. Do not change the reward tier you are currently pledged at. If you want to change your tier, just make sure to add the total of add-ons to your new tier level. If you are an international backer, make sure to pledge the international amount. The video below shows you how to do this.
3) Once you have confirmed your pledge, send us a message recording your add ons!
4) Once the funding period has ended, we will send out a Backerkit survey which will allow you to review your rewards, confirm your address and a few other essentials. In that process you will be able to use the over-pledged credit to select your additional rewards.
5) In this survey you can also select and add on any other rewards, above what you had pledged for. So if you want another half brick, a few posters and an uncut sheet – now’s the time to get it! Remember, there are no plans to ever reprint these cards again, so get in while you can

Risks and challenges
We have done a lot of research and reviewed several companies to ensure that this project goes as smoothly as possible. In the end, the proven quality and experience of Legends Playing Card Company (LPCC) was a major factor in the decision to produce with them. We have set the delivery date conservatively so as not to rush the production of the product, and have full confidence in LPCC to produce and fulfill this project with minimal delays.
As this is the first kickstarter-funded project by Elephant Playing Cards, there may be unanticipated problems which could arise. We have thoroughly prepared for this campaign and will be open and transparent to all backers if any difficulties are encountered.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
