Prism: Day and Dusk Playing Cards
The stunning conclusion to the Prism Playing Cards series - beautiful and shiny cards with world first UV gloss ink on all faces!
NOTE ABOUT CURRENCY:
As we are based in Sydney; Australia, the project goal and all pricing is given in Australian dollars (AUD). We have included an approximate USD conversion for all the reward tiers and add-ons. The project goal of $15,000 AUD is approximately $11,000 USD.
My name is Ben Jones from EPC, and our first deck of playing cards “Prism: Night” pushed the boundaries of playing card technology and aesthetic by adding a world-first shiny UV gloss layer to the face of the cards. Our next deck series: “Pipmen”, took the creative impulse a step further in a playfully fun work of art. Finally we are returning to conclude the Prism trilogy with Prism: Day and Prism: Dusk – the glossy conclusion to the incredible Prism series!
The Prism cards are a beautiful and colorful creation featuring world-first UV gloss ink on the card faces. This is not a just shinier card stock; it is an extra layer of gloss printed on the cards creating a unique finish. While other ‘high gloss’ inks (such as those done by MPC) can have a messy, uneven finish; the UV gloss ink on the Prism cards is neat, shiny and has a slight rainbow shine to it that really catches the eye.
The pictures of the Prism: Day and Dusk decks are of the prototype decks to give an idea of what the gloss printing will look like – these have a thicker layer of gloss than the final decks will, which will be similar to the finished Prism: Night cards.
If you want to see how the finished cards will look and handle, check out this video review of the original deck. You will see that the colors are bright and defined, the cards handle super well and, most importantly, they look dead awesome!
- Printed with Legends Playing Card Company on their Diamond Finish.
- 2 separate decks; Prism: Day and Prism: Dusk.
- 54 Custom and Unique playing cards each with a world-first UV gloss layer.
- Shiny Prismatic paper for the Prism: Dusk deck box (see video below)
- Prism: Dusk is a limited collectors edition deck (not available as an add-on).
- Unique back designs for each deck .
- Custom Holographic Deck Seal (numbered for the limited edition Dusk decks).
The Prism: Day deck comes packaged in a predominantly white tuckbox with intricate textured high gloss regions accentuating the exploding light of the sun. This is the same shiny smooth gloss ink as the card faces, so you can feel the patterned design under your fingers. This box will come with a custom Elephant Playing Cards seal, or a numbered holographic seal if that stretch goal is unlocked.
The limited edition Prism: Dusk tuckbox will feature shiny and colorful prismatic paper which gives an incredible rainbow shine. The rainbow shine effect in the pictures is a digital effect; we could not get this for the prototype, but the final box will be much shinier, more colorful and altogether extra-beautiful – the perfect centerpiece for the Prism trilogy!
A picture is worth a thousand words, so check out another deck which has used this prismatic paper on the box to see what it will look like. And if a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be worth even more. Here’s a quick (3 minute!) showcase of the Prism decks so you can see what the gloss and prismatic paper look like in real life!
The deck seals which come with the Prism decks will be applied by LPCC, with the perforated tear line carefully aligned with the tuckbox lid. These are custom seals which accentuate the shiny Prism theme:
All the cards in the Prism decks are fully custom. In the Day deck the suit markers (pips) on the front are rainbows shot through with bright sunlight which shines from the gloss:
The dusk deck features pips set in a dark evening sky filled with rainbow stars:
The court cards also follow these themes and are custom to the Prism trilogy:
The Jokers are just as beautiful; radials of rainbow light refracting through a prism and converging to embody the essence of the deck!
As the cards are so unique, so should the back:
The uncut sheet is the star of this project! You can see how good the shiny gloss layer looks on the regular cards, just imagine how good it looks all as one unit! Make sure to pick up one of these sheets now, because they are unlike any uncut sheet you have ever seen and will look incredible!
We’ve created a custom uncut sheet layout for this project to highlight the radial colors and accentuate the court cards. The glossy detail looks incredible all together; a very impressive and eye catching piece of art that would look fantastic on any wall!
You will specify which uncut sheet version you want in the survey at the end of the project. Uncut sheets will ship unframed. The distributor will take every precaution to safely pack these, however minor scuffs, scratches, or creases may occur at the far edges of the sheets. These blemishes are unavoidable and are usually easily covered after it is framed.
If you want to purchase 24 decks or more (2 bricks), send us a message for special bulk discount rates!
We are offering the Original Prism: Night decks as an add-on as well for those who have not yet got the first stunning installment in the Prism series. They are available as an add-on,or for separate purchase through the EPC website: http://elephantplayingcards.com/
This table will be updated as stretch goals are unlocked. Instructions on how to add more products to your pledge is below.

They display 3 decks side-by-side (perfect for the Prism trilogy), and will look stunning on any shelf. They will unlock with the Prism: Dusk deck so you can get the whole set!
We will be using Backerkit for this project which will allow you to easily get the right rewards you want and help us streamline the fulfillment process so you get your cards faster!
Adding rewards is simple:
1) After you have pledged to the project, go to the blue ‘manage my pledge’ button on the top right of the page.
2) With reference to the Add-ons table above, increase your pledge amount by the total of the add-ons you want to add. Do not change the reward tier you are currently pledged at. If you want to change your tier, just make sure to add the total of add-ons to your new tier level. If you are an international backer, make sure to pledge the international amount.
3) Once the funding period has ended, we will send out a Backerkit survey which will allow you to review your rewards, confirm your address and a few other essentials. In that process you will be able to use the over-pledged credit to select your additional rewards.
4) In this survey you can also select and add on any other rewards, above what you had pledged for. So if you want another half brick, a few posters and an uncut sheet – now’s the time to get it! Remember, there are no plans to ever reprint these cards again, so get in while you can

Risks and challenges
We have done a lot of research and reviewed several companies to ensure that this project goes as smoothly as possible. In the end, the proven quality and experience of Legends Playing Card Company (LPCC) was a major factor in the decision to produce with them. We have set the delivery date conservatively so as not to rush the production of the product, and have full confidence in LPCC to produce the decks, and Gamblers Warehouse to fulfill them.
This is the fourth Kickstarter project by Elephant Playing Cards (the previous ones being Prism: Night, Pipmen and Pipmen Shadow), and while the first ones went off relatively smoothly there may be unanticipated problems which could arise. We have thoroughly prepared for this campaign and will be open and transparent to all backers if any difficulties are encountered. The designs are 100% finished so there should be no delay in sending the digital proofs to the manufacturer, and then onto production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
