WHAT IS GAZELLE?
The first season of Gazelle is described as a mockumentary web series. It followed French cosmetics inventor Gazelle La France as she attempted to launch her new lipstick, ‘Le Petit Chien’ in the UK, while her step-daughter Samantha suspected all was not as it seemed.
Gazelle is a comedy, and can at times feel light and breezy, though there are often dark undertones and dark humour, and some might say some outright surreal moments too.
The cast is predominantly female. The first season was entirely female led which is not a common occurrence even today. The new season incorporates more female characters, as well as one character from the LGBT community.
Below is episode two of the first season:
WHY MAKE A SECOND SEASON?
Gazelle: Vol. 2 brings back the hilariously monstrous Gazelle La France, along with several new characters, as she attempts to remain relevant in a world where celebrities rarely stay celebrities for long.
The majority of feedback we received last year highlighted that there simply weren’t enough episodes. This time we’re back for eight episodes with one released every week, starting from May - we'll confirm the actual launch date in April.
Gazelle has so much more to show the world. She has so many more awkward and horrifying situations to get herself into. And there are still so many celebrities that need to be taken down a peg or two.
We also have the legendary comedian Jim Davidson joining the cast for season two as Gazelle's agent, Ron Fiddle. We're super excited to have him on board, and we know he's going to be hilarious as Ron.
We don't want to reveal too much about the story but suffice to say it wouldn't be much fun if Gazelle got her way all of the time. We're introducing a new arch-rival for Gazelle and she's certainly going to keep her on her toes.
We also want the show to look much more impressive. We were finding our feet last year but have learnt a lot and plan on releasing a much sleeker looking season two.
Ultimately we want to make more for you. So many people enjoyed the first season and wanted to see Gazelle back on screen. Three episodes were nowhere near enough.
WHAT WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT ON?
Coats, bags and shoes.
Although joking to a degree some of our budget will be spent on Gazelle's wardrobe as that is a major part of her character, but first and foremost, we will be paying our cast. They worked for next to nothing last year, and as we're producing eight more episodes this year, it's only fair they get paid for their work.
Below is a breakdown of what the funds will go towards:
- Hair, Make-up, Wardrobe
- Festival Submissions
We spent a lot of time thinking about what we could offer in exchange for your help and we hope you're pleased with what we've come up with.
Although we do not have finalised designs for the postcards and the A3 poster. Below you can see an example of the art style that will feature in those designs. Head over to https://www.instagram.com/shaunlee01245/ for more examples.
If you've read this far we thank you - and hope that together we can make an amazing season two of Gazelle.
And always remember to: put the beast on your lips.
Risks and challenges
The main risks of TV and film are always the prospect of running out of time or money. We have meticulously planned the production of this second season and have allowed for a large margin of error, should anything unforeseen arise - which it inevitably will.
And should this Kickstarter campaign be successful we will also have taken care of the money issue.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
