Funding for the arts is extremely limited right now. Government support is either stagnant or decreased. While public officials struggle to meet human service needs, we must remind them that the arts don't exist in a vacuum. The arts are related to a variety of human service needs and must not lose government support. As arts groups struggle to meet increased need, state and federal dollars keep ticket prices affordable and events free and open to the public. We must NEVER exist where the arts are only available to those who can afford them.
The arts are connected to healthcare in many ways from designing healing environments to arts related therapies that provide outlets for creative expression.
The arts really are as important as food, water and air and this reminder couldn't come at a better time!
