Anyone know where you can get replacement cables in the UK? I don't want to pay for a microphone I don't want :(. Can't see anywhere on the flare site, and the amazon page is sold out
The cable I got after my last one broke at the jack end has now stopped working in the right ear. I'd barely been using them because I worried about them being fragile but finally went back at the start of this week, argh.
I hardly use my R2A's as I fear I might break them again, and true enough, after a few days of going back to them, there's no sound coming from one side for the 3rd (or 4th?!) time! So far, Flare has been very helpful with replacements, but I agree that at the price range, I was expecting it to last longer, not 1 or 2 months, worse, a few days?! Take note that I even have a small case to put my pair in to make sure it won't break...
Really disappointing. The Sound of the R2A Is amazing. I own several iem including 2 Pairs of ciem. But the Flare R2A Are the First to change the Cable Twice. And now the third Cable broke. And all Direcly near the the headphone Jack. It cant be that iem in this Price Range (retail) Gas such a low quality. So now im on
My way to Amazon to Order a new Cable
@ Jeremy Chard: hi Jeremy
Please email me on Naomi@flareaudio.com - huge apologies if you've not been replied to. That's not our style at all.
Many thanks
Naomi
Still really impressed with my R2 Pro's, but disappointed with communication from Flare. Have emailed twice about R1's and other bits, but no reply. Will be checking out some Planars now. Shame.
Just coming back to say that I'm still absolutely blown away every time I reach for my R2 PROs. I've got a pair of Sony SBH80s and Audio Technica M50X that I use day-to-day and some Pioneer HDJ-1500s that I use over the M50Xs from time to time, but I'm still yet to experience anything that comes close to the experience of the R2 PROs.
Between the fidelity of the sound and the comfort with the comply tips provided, it's more like being at a live performance than using IEMs. Absolutely breath-taking. Thanks for creating such an amazing product.
If I'm nit-picking, I'd have to echo the criticisms others have made about the weight of the metallic connector/splitter piece -- which makes them a hassle to use when moving around -- and the quality of the cable. A more robust, possibly braided, cable would certainly be a welcome improvement.
Still, these never fail to put a smile on my face every time I use them. I recommend them highly every time I get the chance.
One of the sides on my headphones stopped working too.. I have been very careful to keep them coiled properly and in a case (I work in audio/video for a living so I understand how to wrap cable) and the left side still shorted out. Disappointed in the longevity :/. How do I go about getting these fixed? Please advise. Thank you.
@Manuel, my apologies as I didn't see your message as I hardly visit Flare's KS page since I got my replacement... Anyways, I never really had to pay any customs tax or duties whatever sincemy first shipment and then with the 2 replacement shipments. Just had to pay for the shipping fees sending the faulty pair to them... I am in Singapore and I am not sure how customs are from where you are, but here? I never really had issues... Not sure if I answered you correctly, but best that you just email Flare... :)
Hi, hope you are all well and suitably basked in glory.
One of the drivers in my R2A appears to have developed a fault - there is some resonance that wasn't there before and isn't present on the right side.
Is there any warranty coverage for this? I haven't done any modifications.
Until now i had to Reorder 3 cables in Amazon. Flair Audio always was really Kind. ONCE i got a free new Cable. Now they offered me to Send the headphone back to Fix it. Unfurtually i just ordered a new Cable. And i cant wait to Reuse them.
Really Great Sound. Build quality of the Cable sucks. Please fix it.
Well ... My second pair just stopped working while I was on YouTube :( only a month this time! I really hope they fix this soon. Also email them using their website that's how I got my reply faster.
@Chris hey dude, I've had the same issue, they don't respond on kickstarter no more, so what I suggest is that you phone them, then give them your email address so they can email you a returns/repair form. Just Google their number.... Because that what I did. Only took a few days for turnaround.
One side of my headphones has broken I've sent a private message to flare but haven't had any response. Has anyone got any alternative means of contacting them ?
I called Flare Audio a month ago asking for information regarding the R1 MK2 headphones, as shipment was due to start end of September.
I was told that they were not happy with the sound they produced, and i quote "they sounded a bit marmitey", and an update was forthcoming with regard to progress.
As a goodwill gesture, because i was willing to wait, the guy at flare said he would look into sending me a pair of R2's & i gave my Email address to them believing that they would contact me, verifying what i had been told over the phone. I have checked my emails daily, nothing from Flare, No updates on their webpage regarding the R1 mk2 either.
What's going on.
Have they made a promise on which they cannot deliver !
Please can we have some information.
@Earl. I agree with that. The sound quality is outstanding, however, the build quality needs some improvement. On another note: If you ship them internationally, would I have to pay custom fees again for the replacement(s)?( If I were to send both pairs at once). I'd appreciate any help with that matter. Thank you.
Ok, so it isn't just me. I've had my set sent back already to Flare for replacement as I had issues with the connection at the 3.5mm jack just barely 2 months using it. Got the replacement already and barely a month, the same problem is back! I don't have issues with the sound quality, it's the build I have issues with. If the plug was L-shaped, would have been better. Sending a note to Flare now for a replacement (again!). I think for the price, this build quality is a disappointment... :(
Well, both of my R2A pairs are now essentially unusable..they both developed faults near the wire attaching to the jack and in one pair the right earbud went out and the other one produced static for awhile before ceasing function completely. Needless to say, I am pretty upset at the quality and integrity of the wire used. Hopefully I can get a couple replacements.
Just popped in to say hi. Still loving my Flares. No issues but I knew Memory phone don't last. I did find I got more sound stage loosely tightened screws.
Disappointed not seeing more advertising on headfi and other sites , mags. I don't no the costs involved but want to see you get more exposure and brand awareness. have you tryed as A+K have done and partnered with another brand . Chord hugo+ Flare ect You have the sound quality that belies it's understated looks.
Those of you having problems with comply tips may find a size smaller helps...
My medium tips disintegrated in just over a month. I read somewhere a size down could help, but was concerned as fit felt good. Took a chance and bought a set of smalls; they still have a great fit and isolation, and over a month on there are no signs of wear, so it certainly worked for me.
I should be getting my 2nd replacement soon. I'm going to put a spring near the jack and see if it fixes the problem. I'll report back in like 2-3 weeks
My right earbud on one of my pairs gave out last month as well, however, my other pair is going strong. Just wondering when or if replacement cables will become available here in the U.S. or if we have to import it. My comply tips didn't last long though..anyone have any suggestions for a suitable replacement for said tips?
@Naomi,
All the comments in the last 3 weeks have been regarding the jack for the right earphone. You stated on the 2nd of September, "We do reply to all messages sent to us, but it's very hard to reply to all comments" since one rely to all is appropriate please can you urgently address this issue.
UPDATE ON WHAT IS GOING ON IF YOU PLEASE.
There are backers still waiting for their shipment and apparently "the most amazing earphones ever created" don t seem to reach their goal.
Would you mind to give your financiers community some explanations on the matter ?
I've also developed a fault near the jack of the headphones. Very poor quality stuff. I've never had a pair of headphones get faulty this fast. Last pair only developed a fault like this after 5 years. Were tests not run on the durability of the headphones jacks etc?
I have had 2 r2pros and they both developed a fault near the jack. The audio cuts off randomly. I a contacting them once again to get a replacement. They need to fix that strain relief which is really bad.
I use mine daily and love them. I just wish the hanging block on the cable was aluminium or titanium to make it lighter. Also not squared off as it easy catches on clothing which pulls on the earbuds. So tempted to try and remove it.
Anyone wanting cheaper tips can order from ear sweets.com (although the site seems to be down ATM). They are selling on eBay. I have some and they seem good. Firmer than Comply and larger too. If you use medium Comply you'll want small Earsweets.
@caffeine Junkie, Flare Audio could make two balanced cables. All we are talking about is soldering 1 or 2 connectors on the end of the same wire. Flare can handle that with no problem. Pono and Sony use the same balanced connections.
Other choice is to make the component end detacable. Then you could plug in which connector ends are needed. Could even have a single ended ( non balanced choice). This allows flipping your earphones to whatever source is needed. Since the removable cables aren't meant to be changed often,I would consider this route.
Can't wait to hear the Flare, in balanced mode, on my PonoPlayer.
@ emil chakalov: hi there.
We do reply to all messages sent to us, but it's very hard to reply to all comments... there is no way of doing this via the kickstarter website and can only be done from the phone app, which makes it a little tricky.

It is also very disappointing that no one responds to criticisms, ultimately all points here are valid and it would be much better for this company to consider what people have to say..it is a very niche market at the end of the day..
