Hi. I love the stand but am a bit ticked off that you are now selling it for $49.95. What happened to the $90 retail? It didn't take long for you to drop the price point. Most of us paid you 65 each to help get you rolling based on your suggested retail price. I realize that if sales are sluggish you need to make adjustments, but really? $15 less than most of your supporters paid?

Really love my stand! Great quality, simplicity, and functionality. Was wondering if you are already considering making stands for future IPAD versions? I plan to upgrade to the next iPad that is rumored to take design cues from the iPad Mini.

@Ricardo, hi. Your reward shipped Jan 14. We have seen some international shipments take as long as 4-5 weeks. Sorry for the delay. Your Mobile Stands were shipped. Please confirm when you receive your stands.

      No stand here yet :(

    5. Brett Faulk + HumanToolz 2-time creator on February 4, 2013

@Frank, hi. Glad you are enjoying your stand. Good question regarding international shipping. Shipping charges were best guess estimates as we could not scope every possible shipping location outside the USA. Also, there is a considerable amount of labor cost associated with preparing and shipping international rewards. This extra cost is not captured in the shipping price listed on your package. Thanks again for supporting our project!

Hello, received my stand, the fit and free are great!
But I noticed the shipping to my location was $5.75, no duty or extra charges via post. My pledge included $20 for shipping . . . so what was the other $14.25 used for? I've notice this on other Kickstarter projects I've backed, it seems shipping charges are a best guess estimate added into the pledges
I ask because shipping within the US was free which would mean the cost of bringing the product to market took this into account for the lower 48 states. And I don't suspect it would be for any extra time/packaging/weight or service to send out the package . . .
So should I be receiving a credit for the lower cost of shipping? . . . just asking . . . thanks in advance.

@Isaac, hi. Sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your Mobile Stand. We sent you a separate reply so we can track to our support process to resolve the issues.

    8. Isaac on February 1, 2013

and also my stand doesn't fit not matter how hard I tried it. Seems to be slightly some new scratches on the back of my ipad trying to fit in in like in the videos but still no go....

    9. Isaac on February 1, 2013

Hi Brett, just got my stand, finally thanks! Looks great.

I have some slight issues though...there is a paint blemish on the bottom right hand corner...

And the hinge swivel area where the stand attaches to the backing, both sides are not flush to it; i.e. there is a 3-4mm gap on both the right and left side where it looks like it should be flush.

Is this normal? Some help please. Thanks!

Got my stand for iPad 2 yesterday! Fantastic!!! Great job, Brett!!! Fits perfectly and I love the hinge. Once attached, I doubt I'll ever remove it. I've backed 23 projects and this one is the best (imho).

Be careful removing it from the strong package. Don't try to wrestle it out; use scissors.

      Thanks!! Eddie

@Mike, hi. Sorry to hear you had difficulty fitting your stand to your iPad. We have had reports from customers with a similar experience. In a few instances we have seen Mobile Stands difficult to install on a specific iPad actually fit fine on other iPads. Others were able to fit their stand onto their iPad by aligning the bottom corners first and then snapping the top corners into place -- see this video for reference:… ln all cases we have successfully replaced the Mobile Stand. We'd like to send you a replacement if you want. Just contact us at so we can arrange to get your current stand. Then we'll process a replacement stand for you.

Regarding the magnets, we did have an issue in which the factory team was not applying a sufficient amount of glue to secure the magnets in place. This process issue has been resolved. It turns out the magnets are not critical for the stand to function, and the hinge performance provides more than enough strength to keep the kickstand closed when it is collapsed.

I hope you give us a chance to make things right for you.

      Meh on January 23, 2013

Was not impressed. The stand would not fit my iPad (newest gen). It was so tight, I was afraid I would crack the screen, so I gave up. During this, one of the magnets fell out.

If this were a normal merchant, I would have sent it back and asked for a refund. As it is, I learned not to "fund" projects on Kickstarter. Let's be real, this wasn't a "project" but a sales channel for a product.

      Very disappointed.

@Rick, please send me your reward details and shipping address to I will look up your shipment status tomorrow with our team. We are down to the final ~ 40 rewards we need to ship. Many went out today. The balance are scheduled to ship next week.

I still haven't received the stand. Unlike Issac below, I'm not "international." I live in Oregon — which, while strange, is but not alien. I think there has been a slip up.

      Still waiting in Portland,

    16. Rick Bollocks on January 16, 2013

This stand is fantastic, lightweight, small footprint and out performs all of my previous cases. Wether you are reading with the iPad on your lap or bed, watching a video on the table or presenting or taking notes in a client meeting, it really shines. Everyone I show it to is very impressed and wants one.

You have to assume that there will be some teething problems with any new product but I have not seen any.

      Great work Brett.

I received my stand a week or so ago. Perhaps it's just my unit, but the machining is not precise, rendering the stand pretty much unusable.

When the iPad 3 is fully snapped in -- and it's not nearly as easy to do so, with my unit, as the packaging would lead one to believe -- the iPad's Smart Cover will not fit. The two HumanToolz arms are just a wee bit close, and the metal swivel on the Smart Cover has to slightly sit over, or under, one of the arms. If I push one of the arms up on the HumanToolz stand and snap the Smart Cover on, then I'm left with one arm projecting up just enough over the lip of the iPad to snag on everything.

I totally believe that those who've commented that their unit snaps on easily and fits like a glove did indeed have that experience. But I didn't. If I purchased this in a retail store, I would have returned it immediately and not bothered to get a replacement. Unless my IPad was manufactured out of tolerance, then I think I just got a bum unit.

@Isaac, hi. We shipped a few hundred Mobile Stands before the Christmas break. More stands will be shipping out late this week & into next week. We can't confirm the status of each upcoming shipment (yet) because our factory partner is shut down until after the new year holiday.

    27. Michaelb on December 30, 2012

The stand came in just before Christmas as promised and they went over great, everyone loved them. The stands are made extreamtoys well and hold up to daily use. What a great stand. I have some minor complaints, really nothing. I wish in the closed position there was some rubber pads so when I carry my ipad against my computer it would protect it. Also the fit is so close I had to take off my zagg leather cover of my ipad. Other then those minor complaints the stand is the best one out there so far. GREAT PRODUCT.

    28. Brett Faulk + HumanToolz 2-time creator on December 26, 2012

@Cynthia, hi. We are aware some Mobile Stands shipped with insufficient glue applied to the magnets. We apologize you received one of the affected stands. It sounds like your stand is performing well otherwise. The magnets are not critical for operation as the hinge's performance is super & will hold the kickstand closed when the stand is collapsed. You can super glue the magnets back into position if you wish -- contact us at if you want to pursue this or exchange your stand.

    29. Cynthia Morgan on December 26, 2012

You may want to check your manufacturing--the magnets in my mobile stand weren't apparently glued in and keep popping out. Other than that, it's a very elegant solution. Thank you!

@Suzanne, hi. Glad you are enjoying your Mobile Stand. Regarding your question, the Movee Stand lets you watch a movie hands free on your iPod Touch, iPhone, or other smartphone -- when folded the Movee Stand props up your mobile device.

    31. Suzanne Schiller on December 26, 2012

@Brett -- Received my stand today and it is just what I envisioned. It snapped on perfectly and the arm is tight enough to hold any angle. Just one question ... the pads in the package called Movee Stand -- what are they about? :-)

I just got my stand. Unfortunately it does not fit my iPad. I can get 3 out of 4 corners on my device but there seems to be a flaw in the bottom right hand corner that is preventing it from snapping into place.

      Any ideas?

Merry Christmas to me... had my stand waiting for me Saturday when I woke up. So far, so good. Very impressed by the movement (or lack there of) of the hinge. Holds position excellently. Used it all day today to keep my fantasy football tracker up.

    37. Brett Faulk + HumanToolz 2-time creator on December 18, 2012

@Tracey, we're glad the stand is working well for you (even without the magnets). We appreciate your understanding. Yes, your summary for how to match the magnets is correct. If you decide to add the magnets back, you can first place the magnets side-by-side by hand before glueing / inserting them into the magnet holes to confirm they are oriented and attracting correctly.

    38. Tracey Birch on December 18, 2012

Thanks, Brett, I will try using the stand without the magnets -- I am very impressed so far with the stability of the hinge, so I suspect this will work just fine. If not, we've got plenty of superglue here. When you say match the polarity, I assume this means having the magnet in the hinged portion opposite (attracting) its companion in the frame portion, is this correct?

    39. Brett Faulk + HumanToolz 2-time creator on December 17, 2012

@Tracey, hi. I apologize. We had some stands ship with insufficient glue applied to the magnets. You have a few options:

      1. Send us back your stand & we will send you a replacement. You can contact us at to coordinate this option.

      2. You can superglue the magnets back into place -- we did this on a few stands & one customer told us this worked for them. You just need to ensure you match the polarity of the magnets correctly when super glueing them back into place.

      3. Or leave the magnets out. The stand will work well without the magnets. And almost always the kickstand will remain closed when collapsed because the hinges work so well to hold the kickstand into place.

Let me know what you decide.

    40. Tracey Birch on December 17, 2012

I was using my stand quite happily for a little while -- it really is a great design -- but then something happened that caused the 4 magnets to come loose. It may have been a bump or jolt (I do have 3 young children) but not enough to do any damage to the ipad itself.

I noticed when I went to use the stand & the magnets in the movable part stayed stuck to the back of my ipad. I removed the stand from the ipad and the other two magnets came out as well. I can't seem to figure out how they were originally held in place -- I can fit them back into their spots, but they come right out again.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any way to fix it?

    41. Brett Faulk + HumanToolz 2-time creator on December 12, 2012

@Jon Stump: Hi. Our last update #8 is still the latest status. We are currently planning to begin production the week of October 15. We will start by building a quantity of ~ 150 stands. This quantity will allow our team to validate the performance of our entire supply chain and inspect each stand to ensure everything meets the required specifications for fit (onto an iPad), kickstand performance, and cosmetic finish. If everything goes well we will begin filling kickstarter orders from this initial build and continue with the production ramp.

We appreciate everyone's support as we are hopefully close to being ready for production shipments. More to come soon.

When i see the stand i liked it very much, the ones that are now in sale does not have the features that this have, light weigh, nice looking, variable angle. I think this is going to be a hit. Can't wait to get it too!!!
