Who is this Mr. Marmalade guy anyway?
Life is hard for Lucy, a four-year-old girl with a wild imagination, when her own imaginary friend, Mr. Marmalade, barely has time for her. Despite Mr. M's neglect, Lucy's fear of being alone causes her to desperately cling to him. A dark comedy by Noah Haidle, Mr. Marmalade tells the story of how tough it is for children to grow up in these difficult times.
Who is involved?
We are so lucky to be working with such a talented cast. The production stars Courtney Megaro (Lucy), Jason Swafford (Mr. Marmalade), Brian James (Larry), Chance Brayman (Bradley), Kelsey Lane Dies (Sookie/Emily/Sunflower), and Nate Pierce (George/Man/Cactus). The show is directed by Bryce Russell.
Okay, so what is the plan?
Mr. Marmalade will be produced, directed, performed, and designed by a team of actors, all recent graduates of a performing arts conservatory. Performances are slated for this September. Our goal is to raise $1500 to get the ball rolling on this project. This covers:
2. Performance Space Rental
3. Set Construction and Storage
We are ecstatic to bring Mr. Marmalade to you and so grateful for all of your support. Thank you so much, and we will see you in August!
Risks and challenges
From Broadway to Black Box, producing theater in New York City can be a gamble. Right now, our biggest challenge is our set construction. As the collaborators of the project live in tiny Manhattan apartments, constructing and storing a set can become a bit of a hassle. That is why a generous amount of our budget is dedicated to finding an inexpensive but safe and sturdy place to build and store our sets until we can move into our performance venue. After all, Lucy and her imaginary friends need a place to play tea party!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
