      Hey guys,

      Yes sorry I should have gave news sooner!
      So the PCB have been assembled. They are currently programming them and testing them with the test jigg I showed you guys before.
      - Battery and LCD are ready,
      - Gamepads and gamepads modules are ready. I even received one of the black SNES gamepads to check it.
      - Micro SD are being tested and will be ready this week.

      So pretty much everything is ready, only thing that is going to delay is the molded parts...
      They had few minor corrections to do on the mold and to make the surface finish. But they took more time than I forsaw to make the changes. And they had been a holiday in China (the dragon boat festival) so they will finish the corrections and finish of the mold only the 5th of June...

      So that makes us about 3 days to get the final prototypes for validation. Then to produce all the parts it will probably take about 2-3 days, then shipping the parts to main factory maybe 2-3 days. Then assembly + final tests + shipping that will be about one week.

      So that will make us a shipping around the 18-20th of June probably. Sorry for the additional delays, I know it's frustrating, for me first.

      So next week I will visit my main partner in Shenzhen. I was hoping to check the final assembly, but as a matter of fact injected parts will probably not be there yet. I will try to make a lot of pictures and maybe videos for you guys!

      Sorry to be a pest Pierre, but is there any updates on the pcb and molds? We're getting very close to the Jun 10th prediction on the shipping date. Is everything ok, or is there new challenges? Thank you!

      Hello @Pierre, has already started assembly of PCB, as planned? And in general you think that the rest of the deadlines could suffer some delay more? thanks in advance.

    12. Francis Levesque le May 20

      @Andrea Caroli
      There is no reason that it wouldn't work since the Zero, and ZeroW are exactly the same save for added Bluetooth and Wifi, which the Zero could get through additional USB devices instead. The rest of the hardware is 100% the same.

      Have to remind people that the Raspiboy is NOT related to the software you install, it's a hardware device that needs a minimal change to a config file (mostly to tell it what to do with the screen). So if you have a Zero or ZeroW, and have installed RetroPie or whatever system of your choice, then it WILL work in the Raspiboy.

      Hello @ Pierre in blue looks great. I imagine that you would be happy to stay with a blue or white that you showed us before. But I wonder, would there be any color that is not gray or black and that could be available to be able to organize a raffle to which it interests to him? You know @ Pierre, a limited edition can be interesting. I wonder if it can be possible ; ). Sorry for my English

      @Pierre the RPi3 version without battery, to play like a home console. Connected to the TV or in a 7" if you don't want to plug to a TV. A version of the PCB for connecting at pins of IO ports.

      Pierre-Louis Boyer, "@Devin yes the mold has been finished the 11th, but they still did not made the prototypes... I'm eagerly waiting for them!"

      Excellent! Great to hear! Progress. :)

      Pierre-Louis Boyer, "Maybe I will make a kit for raspi boy 3...."

      Hey Pierre, my suggestion would be to skip the raspberry pi 3, use the compute module 3 instead. I think it uses less power, and it would be a real easy for users to install, since it uses the laptop memory format.

      @Devin yes the mold has been finished the 11th, but they still did not made the prototypes... I'm eagerly waiting for them!

      @Jordi Maybe I will make a kit for raspi boy 3, or with an orange pi perhaps.
      7"with a rpi 3 the battery will not last very long!
      But it will probably be for next year, I need to get this first product right before!

      Jordi Giró Anglada le May 12

      Hello @Pierre, once this project will be finished, do you have plans to make a PCB for the RPi3?

      I like to create a 7" screen with a RPi3 to play with usb pads or ps3 bluetooth pads. I like to have a PCB for the screen, volume level, etc.

      It was interesting get the screen, pcb, etc for a more powerful retromachine.

      The body should everybody make out of the kickstarter and a option of arcade stick and buttons to a USB PCB maybe a good option too.

Thanks for keeping us so well informed :) any more news?

      Il n'y a pas de Carte SD avec le projet, pas non plus de RaspberryPi Zero (ou ZeroW), il faut que tu achètes les tiens :) Il y a des kits RaspPi qui ont une carte SD compris.

      @devin
      I know, but better late than broken in the grand scheme of things.

      If you received a unit that didn't have the right mould for the gamepad or a defective PCB, it'd take you much longer to get it replaced.

      Gotta look at the bright side of thing, as long as we keep getting updates on the process, it's simply a matter of time.

      @Francis Levesque "so time to ready the packages and actually sending them, June and July sounds like relatively good estimates."

      I think this is the first time I've been sad about news on the Raspiboy during the whole kickstarter. I was really hoping to get mine in May. :(

    31. Francis Levesque le May 2

      @Buck
      That's what I'm thinking.
      He'll probably get the shipments by the end of the month, so time to ready the packages and actually sending them, June and July sounds like relatively good estimates.

    32. Buck le May 2

      @Francis:

      Thanks - Totally get all that stuff.

      I'm just mainly curious, from Pierre's mind where he envisions shipping to start based upon where we are now.

      It sounds like June/July at the earliest, yeah?

      Good response from the creator is key. I have backed a couple of failed projects on Kickstarter. the first indication is the creator just stops responding. It is pleasant to have a project arrive on time, but not uncommon for the creator to be optimistic in his timelines. I continue to look forward on following this projects development.

    34. Francis Levesque le May 1

      @Buck
      Pierre is still waiting on the final prototypes. What's going on here is that they send him samples of the casing and PCB components, Pierre puts them together and makes sure everything works as it should. He ran into some delays in which the plastic casing was not the correct one, but that was fixed.

      Once Pierre is sure that the PCB and the casing are going to play nice together (and physically with the PiZero as well), he gives the go and it'll take a few more weeks to get the backer packages. And then the shipping starts.

      I don't expect Pierre to ship a thousand units in a week. There's the packaging, making sure that people get what they asked for in their boxes (color, battery, extras), and sending them out. But we hope he gets help if he needs to, and keeps updating with quantities :) Slow movement is better than none at all, believe my experience from another Kickstarter.

    35. Buck le May 1

      Are these guys shipping in May?
      June?

      Other?

      I'm a bit lost on what the latest update on that part is.

      Thank you!

      @Pierre-Louis

      While we wait news on the raspiboy, why not do some "not very serious", question and answers? I'll start. What do you do as a hobby (other than doing a kickstarters)? What is your favorite music artist currently? If you like beer, what is your favorite beer?

    37. Pierre-Louis Boyer Créateur le April 27

      @Ruben
      For audio you need to connect the microSD to your computer, open it and then open the config.txt file.
      - add the following text to the end of /boot/config.txt and reboot your pi :
      dtoverlay=pwm-2chan,pin=18,func=2,pin2=13,func2=4

      Video should work out of the box.

    38. Rubén le April 26

      Hey Pierre-Louis, Do we need have to configure the video and audio output or it's just like Plug and Play?
      Thanks

    39. Francis Levesque le April 22

      @Felipe
      I answered it literally 2 posts below yours.
      1.3 also works, but 1.3 does not have Wifi/Bluetooth, while ZeroW does.

    40. Avatar manquant

      Felipe borrero le April 22

      Two questions, one, will Raspberry Pi Zero W work here? Also I noted picture for v1.2. But will v1.3 work, can we clarify all compatible boards? Of pi zero...

    41. Buck le April 21

      I'm losing track amongst all the updates..

      When are these looking to be ready to start shipping?

      Sometime in May?
      Later?

    42. Francis Levesque le April 19

      Friendly reminder to everyone, there's still time to order your Pi Zero if you don't have it yet! The Zero W version will also fit, the only difference is added Wifi and Bluetooth without extra USB connections. If you setup your Pi Zero so it works, then it should work with a minor edits to some files once Rasiboy arrives (mostly to give control to the screen and audio to the Raspiboy).

      Also, while the project is a little delays, please look at the updates section for details on the process. Projects like these are almost always late, because the only way it could be on time is if the creator already had order all of the parts and it was ready to ship, which would mean this would be a store, and not a Kickstarter.

      The frequent and detailed updates show everyone what's going on, so be assured that everything is going fine. The delays are caused by manufacturing errors and production delays, something out of anyone's control. It's better to have the product a few weeks late and 100% functional than rushed and realizing that most of them don't work! :)
