I am interested in what people love. Is it a cherished object from childhood? Does it have strong sentimental significance? Is it rare or beautiful? Mundane? Is it the only thing a person could carry when fleeing danger in their native land? What does a member of a gang love best? What about a person in a nursing home? The waiter who serves you delicious Indian food once a week? A child? The nanny you see around town? The bank teller you see regularly? A writer? A filmmaker? An electrician? I think the objects people choose may challenge our preconceived notions of what’s important or meaningful and give a glimpse of insight and intimacy into a person's life. At the very least, the photographs should be beautiful and interesting.

I hope to get as diverse a population as possible in terms of race, age, gender, economic status and ethnicity. Sick people and people who are healthy; everyone and anyone.

I will have each person hand-write a paragraph or two explaining what makes the object so important. Handwriting and someone's own words will add to the intimacy of the series.

This is the beginning of what I hope, with time, will become a larger project including travel beyond my local areas. For this step I plan on photographing at least 50 different people to get 25 - 35 really beautiful and meaningful photographs.

I will use my many contacts and various social media to attract as diverse a population as possible. I will use the money raised to travel in and around Boston, MA and Woodstock, NY to photograph as many people as will make good subjects from now until the end of the year, or early next year if need be. I will also use the money I raise to pay for the paper and ink with which I will produce a self-published limited edition book.
