About the Kickstarter
Last October we launched the first volume of Rourke the Hexbuster, containing the first two instalments of the series, at MCM London Comic Con, and now we are ready to go ahead with the second volume. Federico Memola's Rourke the Hexbuster is an atmospheric and thrilling horror fantasy graphic novel set in Ireland. Expect demon hunts, eerie adventures into supernatural realms and the strife of Rourke, our conflicted hero.
Every volume has two 96 page episodes (200 pages). We have already printed the first volume, and now we would like to print the second volume, bringing two more episodes of Rourke to our readers.
A client from the Central African Republic hires Rourke, forcing the thief of curses on a long journey. But once in place, Rourke and his young daughter, Kylie, find themselves at the center of a hot situation, where the true horror does not only come from curses and the local witches, but from the poverty and atrocities committed by man.
The calm of a quiet Irish town is broken by a terrible killer beast. When Rourke arrives on site, however, it turns out that he was not called for the monster. Instead, he has been summoned for another controversial case: a man who, in spite of the entreaties of his wife, does not wish to be deprived of his curse. This time, Rourke must deal with a country that bears many voices and few certainties, where people die in the middle of the night in horrible ways, and a man who is not afraid of the consequences of his actions.
We will be bringing a new range of highly anticipated publications, from some of the best European voices in fantasy literature and comics, to a global audience. This will be a pivotal year for DieGo Comic Publishing, and the start of many more that will see further releases as we build upon our library of progressive, true-to-heart fantasy literature.
Who is Rourke?
For our English-speaking readers who do not already know - Rourke is the dark anti-hero created in the great mind of Italian writer Federico Memola, introduced in the thrilling two-part opening of the Rourke the Hexbuster series. A troubled, unwilling and often-inebriated hero, Rourke suffers a great burden – he has the ability to take curses bestowed upon others and laden himself with them, so that he might save the victims from their turmoil. It is good business, but he also has to look after his young daughter Kylie. Or rather, she has to look after him.
Rourke's teenager daughter, Kylie.
The dysfunctional pair blaze trails through Ireland and into dark worlds filled with demons and witches. The first two parts of this gripping and atmospheric series are Moon Worshippers and The Silent Dwelling, and they will leave you itching for more blood-curdling adventures. See justice dealt to supernatural evils, and just how Rourke's family survives when they lead such dangerous lives. Stay tuned for upcoming episodes to be released later in 2014!
The series was originally published in Italy, in eight monthly episodes, while the English edition will be released twice a year, with four volumes each containing two episodes.
The first volume was printed and introduced at last year’s MCM London Comic Con.

This project is more than that. Supporters of this project will be creating a new force in the Fantasy field both for literature and comics, a publishing house that will offer a selection of outstanding European authors and illustrators. This new London-based independent publisher is called Diego Comic Publishing, which was founded in 2012 by the passion and resourcefulness of Giuseppe and Marcella Pennestri’, brother and sister of Italian origins. Currently, DieGo has introduced a number of literary and graphic novels by renowned Italian authors. Our titles have received great feedback from various industry professionals and members of the public who were introduced to this family-run company at the MCM Comic and World Fantasy Conventions in late 2013. DieGo aim to find the sharpest talent and bring it to the eyes and minds of fantasy lovers all over the world, giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself into the wonderful, alternative realms that we all love so much! We can’t do it without you. Consider backing our Kickstarter and helping spread the word.
Here is a list of what awaits once we achieve our initial project goal:
In March we will launch a new Kickstarter to fund Shadow of Mars, an unbelievable steampunk series (composed of four books plus a short story that we published last week), that has been making massive waves in the Italian fantasy genre.
We have just started one contest to select the next hilarious comic to include in Diego’s Parody vol. II that will be published next November.
Two more contests to select talented young authors that will be part of our two anthologies - one on the figure of the witch, the other about demons offspring - both planned for next Autumn.
April will see our third Kickstarter: Desdemona, another popular Italian comic book set in picturesque Florence.
The success of these Kickstarters will bring us to participate at London Film & Comic Con. this coming July and at World Fantasy Convention 2014 - Virginia USA.
In 2015 we will also see the introduction of another of Memola's visions: the beautifully drawn Enchantment Agency,a seductive series of warring witches.
This will be a pivotal year for DieGo Comic Publishing, and the start of many more, which will see many more releases as we build upon our library of progressive, true-to-heart fantasy literature. We need your support to make this a success!
All the money raised by this project will be used to publish volume 2 of the Rourke the Hexbuster graphic novel. Any funds above and beyond our stated goal will go toward the production of volumes 3 and 4 of the Rourke series and other publications by DieGo Comic Publishing, as listed in the Stretch Goal paragraph.
Your help is hugely appreciated! Each of our supporters will be rewarded by DieGo Comic Publishing, both with exclusive gifts and a heartfelt dedication in a future anthology marking the foundations of our publication, which will feature each and every one of the names of those who support our cause.
In the event that we exceed our goal, we would like to thank our supporters by offering the following stretch goals:
