What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. This is a radio server that allows RTL-SDR dongle to receive from the Web. RTL-SDR is widely used as a software radio that can be enjoyed at low prices. We have already finished development, we thought that many people would like to use a radio server, and built a project. Funds we collect are mainly used for ordering parts, boards and cases for mass production.

In the radio server, a 50 MHz upconverter and RF amplifier are built in to constitute a broadband receiver covering the shortwave band to 1 GHz. This have incorporated a single board computer inside, and  running OpenWebRX which distributes on the Web. You can also use HDSDR by switching the switch. If even a network is connected, it will be possible to receive shortwave broadcasting, VHF etc. wherever you are.

The radio server has several options. By choosing as necessary, you can obtain a receiver with high cost performance.

Simple kit Converter board only. It does not include RTL - SDR stick, Orange Pi Zero.

Basic kit RTL - SDR stick + converter board. It does not include Orange Pi Zero.

Standard kit RTL - SDR stick + converter board + Orange Pi Zero. 4GB microSD card is not including.

Special kit exclusive case + RTL - SDR stick + converter board + Orange Pi Zero + 4 GB micro SD card.

All kits require a mini USB 5V 1A power supply, suitable antenna and SMA connector Ethernet cable.

これはRTL-SDRドングルを利用して、Web上から受信できるようにしたラジオサーバーです。RTL-SDRは、低価格で楽しめるソフトウエアラジオとして広く使われています。すでに開発は終わっていて、多くの人にラジオサーバーを使ってもらいたいと考え、プロジェクトを建てました。集めた資金は、主に量産するためのパーツと基板、ケースの発注に使います。

ラジオサーバーでは、50MHzのアップコンバーターとRFアンプを内蔵して、短波帯から1GHzまでをカバーする広帯域受信機を構成しています。内部にシングルボードコンピュータを組み込んでいて、Web上で配信するOpenWebRXを動作させています。スイッチを切り替えることでHDSDRも使うことができます。ネットさえつながっていれば、どこにいても短波放送、VHFなどを受信することが可能になります。

Risks and challenges

Since development has already ended and it has been confirmed that it can be put to practical use, there is no risk of commercialization. When using the radio server on the net, you need to access the IP address assigned by DHCP. If you do not have much knowledge of the net, you may not be able to connect because you do not know the IP address. If you can grasp this IP address, you can receive it just like a regular radio.

すでに開発がおわり、実用できることが確認されているので、製品化についてのリスクはありません。使用に当たっては、ラジオサーバーをネット上につないだとき、DHCPで割り当てられるIPアドレスにアクセスする必要があります。ネットの知識があまりないと、IPアドレスがわからなくなって、接続できない可能性があります。このIPアドレスの把握さえクリアできれば、通常のラジオと同じように受信することができます。
