Bucket Siler's latest zine is packed full of stories, letters, and comics. From the weirdo who brought you "I Have a Song For You."
I'm raising money to print my fourth zine, Further Distractions. This collection of stories, letters, and comics is the culmination of over a year of writing, editing, and more than one life crisis. It includes such super-short stories as "California," a magical collision of time, space, and toothpicks; "I Say Your Name," a heartbreaking and doomed romp through the desert; and "God's Car Seat," a... well... you'll see. Also in this collection: a hilarious rumination on my late 20s, "This Is What I Mean When I Say Your Saturn Has Returned," a few comics inspired by my new job in retail, and, of course, lots of wonderful letters.
I sell my zines for only a little more than it costs to print them. I have been creating and sharing DIY publishing projects (aka zines) with people since 2004. My mission is to share my writing with as many people as will appreciate it, while for the most part breaking even.
$500 will cover the cost of an initial print run of about 300 copies, plus associated office supplies and postage. Anything raised over the funding goal will be used for stickers and promotional items, and to print more copies of the zine.
Bucket Siler is a writer and zine publisher living in Santa Cruz, California. She was recently admitted to a graduate fiction writing program on a full scholarship. When she is not writing, sleeping, or making zines, she likes to be outside, hang out with her strangely adorable kitties, and eat chard with her breakfast. She can be creeped on at www.bucketsiler.com.
