About this project
We’re very excited to introduce you to Flatgoods!
Flatgoods is an environmentally responsible custom printable furniture or display piece that can be used for your home or business. These products can be used as a powerful marketing tool for your company, a fun functional conversation piece at home, or anything in between!
Flatgoods is creative, lightweight, and ships flat to keep costs down. Flatgoods can be purchased in our stock colors and designs or we can custom print your company logo, favorite color scheme, or photograph directly on the furniture!
The best thing about Flatgoods is that all pieces are 100% recyclable! We are proud to participate in the worldwide movement to reduce the environmental impact that we have on our planet. We only use materials that are SFI certified (Sustainable Forestry Initiative).
The pledging process is easy. Just pick the product you like in either natural or white. You have the option to keep it blank, choose one of our stock patterns or you can completely customize it by uploading your own artwork using our supplied print templates. Once we reach this step we'll send over the print template that suits your needs.
The custom printable option is great! This allows you to brand your item perfectly to your needs. Flatgoods could be used in the office, a work conference, trade shows, dorm rooms, kids rooms, schools, sponsored events, pop-up stores, retail point of purchase displays and so much more! They also work great as gifts!
This is where you come in. We need your help to kickstart our project! Our goal is to make Flatgoods available to everyone at a low cost. To achieve this, we need to buy materials at a high volume. Like a semi-truck load! The cost comes in at $20k. Buying in bulk cuts the cost per sheet of cardboard material in half. This savings will then be passed directly to you, keeping Flatgoods affordable for all.
In return for your contribution, you will get to be one of the first to experience Flatgoods for yourself. Check out our various pledge options and find whats best for you. You can also choose multiple pledges; for example, if you would like two adult chairs in natural and a square table in natural, you would pledge $50 three times. Once for each chair and once for the table.
Once our goal is met if you have chosen a custom printable option we’ll email you a digital template file that lets you custom create your design using your preferred Adobe Suite program. After that, you’ll have your custom-made Flatgoods product in no time flat!
Thanks in advance for your help, and I hope you see the same potential we do in this fun new endeavor!

CONCEPT TO PRODUCTION
Risks and challenges
The main challenge we face is keeping Flatgoods affordable, which is very important to us. If we don’t get enough backing to buy the amount of materials needed to manufacture our products in a cost-effective manner, we may have to reconsider how we approach this enterprise in general, or whether it’s financially feasible.
Currently, you can only design the custom furniture in the Adobe platform (InDesign, Illustrator, & Photoshop). We want to eventually offer the ability to custom design the products right on the Flatgoods website. We would like to offer this option to everyone, not just people who can use the Adobe suite.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
