The Journey East is a simplistic platforming game. It was made for the Ludum Dare game jam (also sometimes referred to as the LDJam or LD48). It was very fun to make, and I think with some simple changes it can become a far greater game. I have made some small changes to the physics, and tweaked some of the levels, but what the game really needs is new graphics and a better soundtrack. Since I'm neither an artist nor a composer, I'll need money to buy these things. This is why I need to kickstart this project.
$100 will go to the graphics, and $50 will go to making a better soundtrack. Any extra money obtained will go to further improving the graphics and soundtrack, or being used to help list the game on Steam Greenlight (it has a $100 listing fee).
You can grab the demo here. Make sure to download the updated version!
These are quotes regarding the game on its Ludum Dare page.
"You made very good use of the traps and enemies in the level design. Every level was a challenge and i am glad to say I made it to the end." - Shrapx
"Love how bright the game is, nice job! Also fun and is overall a well done entry." - Crawler Studios
"Simple, well made game!" - Jupiter_Hadely
Risks and challenges
After being funded and the game is created, Steam Greenlight will be a large hurdle to jump over. We'll need a lot of community help and participation, but I don't see it being out of the question. If the game is successfully greenlit, then Steam keys will be distributed. If not, the game will likely be hosted on itch.io.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
