We are Tanner Holm and Brock Nordstrom, and we want to change the world. And we are creating a photo book, titled "Homebound." This kickstarter project was formed to create this book, and inspired by our desire to help those in need, to help the homeless in our local cities.
We have a powerful vision and determination to help these people, and this book will inspire many others to do the same. As we use two very stimulating medias to communicate our message-- Photography, and literature-- we hope to lift, encourage, inspire and bless those who come across our work.
Here is a sample of our literature, a segment from the future book.
"The gift of Man is comprehension. To understand one another, to comprehend our past, the present situation, and the potential we all have in our future. This gift is a tool, an instrument. Born, ingrained, forged to our very thoughts is this…capacity, to decipher a situation and to grasp our current realities. A powerful tool, when wielded by the courage within us. Lives can be saved, angers calmed and wounds healed. But when the dark cloud of an-hedonism clouds our sight, our cold understanding can sever all of humanities' wonderful cords that bind us together as one. We can be so separate, so far away from the impoverished man sitting next to us on the train, that there is almost nothing that could bring us across the mental divide we've created, back to our brothers in need. Comprehension can be a chilling and dark weapon, when wielded without compassion.
The curse of Man is Apathy. And the children of this curse, are the homeless."
We want you to read this book when it is made. And we want you to look at the homeless differently afterwards, we want you to understand who they are, so when our children ask us why they are there, we truly know.
We would be using the money donated from this project mainly to buy moderate lighting equipment, film, and film developing/scanning. We also plan to purchase gloves and other warm items to help the homeless we meet along the way to bear the oncoming winter. Our listed goal is $3,500. Because if we can better understand where they've been, we can help them get to where they're going.
Risks and challenges
One of the Challenges we will face is finding those homeless who will be comfortable with sharing their lives with us. This brings in a big time factor, as it may take a lot of time trying to find those willing to let us interview/photograph them. We aim to overcome this obstacle by gaining the favor and support of the community, namely those in charge of local soup kitchens and homeless shelters, people who can be trusted so we can effectively show the positive effects of this project. All in all this is a very low-risk project, we know it will succeed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
