"The A, B, Zeees" is intended to help humans, like you and me, relate to our undead neighbors. The book was created with the belief that all we need to avert the impending zombie apocalypse is a better understanding of zombies and what motivates them.
Each letter of the alphabet, and accompanying verse, translate basic zombie emotions and needs, expressed through the various "aaarghs," "graaahsls," and "fshnuls" that zombies are able to vocalize.
But it's not just that we don't understand what they are saying! Anti-zombie prejudice is a powerful force, one that "The A, B, Zeees" is helping to counter.
Colorful illustrations help to de-stigmatize the rot and effluvia of our dearly decayed.
Stretch Goal #1
We're nearly done! Just over 48 hours to go. Thanks again for all the support you've shown the project. Since we've reached our funding target, we thought it might be time for a stretch goal! So here it is.
Get us to $1,300 before the deadline (that's just another $150 as of this writing!) and everyone with a physical book gets one of these card stock bookmarks included with their order.
On the back is a type of poem called a Diamonte. It begins with one subject, and ends with it's opposite.
Zombies in LA
"The A, B, Zeees" is already helping people from Zanzibar to Los Angeles handle what might otherwise be a sticky situation when encountering the undead. Here's a powerful (paid) testimonial from a customer in SoCal!
You want Goodies?
Yeah, some people really just want a book, but others, they want swag! And for those discerning friends of zombies (or "fozies" as we like to call them) we have some very cool buttons you can sport to show your love, and bookmarks so you never lose your place. But more importantly, one of the bookmarks will be printed on METAL! When the apocalypse comes, you can turn it into a shiv, which you can then use on your fellow humans for that last can of SPAM.
About The Creators
"The A, B, Zeees" is a collaboration between San Francisco based writer Ricardo Sanchez, who's works include the Elvis Sightings Mysteries, Resident Evil, and the Kickstarter funded A Hero's Death (with artist Mark Texeira.)
New York City based artist "Kidbrainer," is a hard core gamer and graduate of Brooklyn College who abandoned a career in medicine, digging into living bodies, for a life of art and creativity, drawing decaying bodies. You can see more of her work on DeviantArt.
"The A, B, Zeees" is 26 pages of hand drawn art and poetry. It will be bound and printed on high quality stock in the USA. The book will include a page indicating that each copy will be one of a limited print run made specifically for Kickstarter backers.
Risks and challenges
The art, copy and layout has already been completed. The book will be printed in the U.S., then shipped to a fulfillment warehouse with lots of experience getting the goods to Kickstarter backers.
The design for all the extras is complete, as well, and ready to print.
For backers receiving the additional books by Ricardo Sanchez, those books are on hand and ready to be packed.
The only real risk to the project is that the scheduled date for the print run can be shifted a week or two, depending on the printer's schedule, but the anticipated fulfillment date has already accounted for the possibility of a small slip in the printing date.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
