Imagine a Backpack that preserves the Planet by recycling sails,
where you could fit everything you need whether you are navigating the Ocean or in the City, and with a story to tell: the story of a beautiful yacht that travelled the Sea !
How did we get there ?
For some time our followers had been asking for a backpack. We started brainstorming to define the ultimate product. Then we submitted an online quizz. From the main expectations, our design team began to work.
For the very first time, we finally designed a backpack. We imagined a bag that could be functional, comfortable, elegant - with a french touch, and made from 100% recycled sail.
And it all came together : the DINGHY Backpack
Everything starts with a sail
We need to adapt constantly to the materials we collect. Different sails have been cut to test and select the best harmony of colors for the DINGHY Backpack.
3 different colors :
Created for sailing, designed for everyday
Our backpack was inspired from the Ocean and made with recycled sails. But we wanted it to be as fit for travelling the seas as it would be to go to work or to the gym.
Imagine a backpack in which you can fit:
- A laptop and its charger which you can access without having to empty your bag (fits up to 13” laptop)
- A secret pocket where you can safely hide your documents or money
- All the little things you need in your everyday life: keys, glasses, pens, a wallet, clothes, a toiletry bag
- And easy to open, yet safe.
- A pair of muddy shoes, or a wet towel and bathing suit in a part of the bag that can be easily cleaned
And what about the accessories ?
Let's get technical
About 727 SAILBAGS
At 727 SAILBAGS, we love sailing, and we love the ocean.
But we realized that so many sails ended their lifecycle being thrown away. Imagine millions of square feet of sails being dumped, burnt or burried. So we decided to do something about it.
In our workshop in Lorient, France, in the heart of the "Brittany Sailing Valley", we upcycle used sails and turn them into handbags, fashion items and home decoration pieces. We collect the sails from ocean racing teams, and from sailors.
We clean the sails with eco-certified products. Then, we cut them and assemble them.
All the products are handmade, and each bag is identified with an authentication label that tells the story of the sail.
A sustainable Production Cycle
Risks and challenges
At 727 Sailbags, we've been designing, producing and delivering bags, decoration and fashion products for close to 8 years. Not only has this backpack and its accessories been thoroughly designed, but the prototypes have also been made in multiple colors and sails and they have been properly tested.
Besides, our passionate team of experts master all skills needed for the entire production cycle of our project, from the collection of sails to the design of the bag, and from the cutting of sails to the manufacturing and delivery of the finished product.
We are therefore fully confident in our ability to deliver the products ordered.
Risks, if any, are limited to the timing and logistics of the project, depending on the number of orders. However, we our confident that the timelines we have mentioned include a bit of extra time to make up for unforeseen challenges, unless an exceptional event occurs.
Of course, should an issue in timing occur, we will update our backers immediately.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
