Since 2015 we have traveled around Pittsburgh with our mobile, wood-fired oven baking sourdough pizza and bread. Our travels have taken us to coffee shops, breweries, farmer’s markets and private events all over our hometown. In exploring Pittsburgh’s various neighborhoods, we have met new friends, reconnected with old ones, and we've done our part to reintroduce the ancient technique of sourdough baking to a wide audience.
Driftwood Oven has won awards for our pizza and received both local and national acclaim for the food that we produce. This, we believe, is due to our keen eye to detail and an insatiable appetite for seeking out the best products to feature on our pizza.
Our mozzarella is made from the milk of grass-fed cows at Caputo Brothers Creamery and stretched daily. Our fresh meats are raised humanely at Goodness Grows Farm in Butler, PA. The vegetables atop our pizza are grown by our friends at Who Cooks For You Farm; when the Western PA growing season winds down, we rely on the East End Food Co Op for organic produce.
Most essential to our product is its foundation, the dough. It is made from organic flours that are procured from Frankferd Farms in Saxonburg, PA. We ferment our dough slowly, the old world way, with a sourdough culture. The crust we bake is crispy on the outside and chewy and flavorful on the inside. The fermentation process creates a dynamic depth of flavor, unmatched by any yeast-risen dough. Not merely a vessel for sauce, cheese and toppings, we take pride in going the long-way-round to provide you with a pizza that is rich with flavor, well-crafted, and that is nourishing to your body.
The Next Step
We are excited to announce that after 2+ years of bringing pizza to the people, we have found a permanent home for Driftwood Oven. Beginning in 2018, we will be baking pizza in the heart of Lawrenceville at 3615 Butler Street. We are excited to be a part of this thriving block that features a number of small businesses. This home will allow us to continue producing high quality pizza, while also contributing to the Pittsburgh community.
Our vision is a pizzeria for all occasions. For the late night crowd seeking a quick slice, to special occasions with family. We want to create a warm, welcoming, vibrant space. Think about your childhood pizza shop. Think about Friday nights past, gathered around a pie with friends and family.

In traveling around Pittsburgh, we have met and served people from all walks of life. Some sought us out, but most stumbled upon us for the first time. However, each and every one have supported us and helped us get to where we are today. It is now our mission to welcome those people into our home. Only this time, our home will have walls ‘n stuff. Beer and wine, too.
What We Need
We are very fortunate that this exciting opportunity has presented itself. Prior to our arrival, the location was home to another restaurant. This left us in a great position as far as the restaurant layout, but still left us without many of the necessary tools to execute our vision for Driftwood Oven.
To transition this space from a restaurant to a proper pizzeria, we will need the following:
• High performance deck oven
• Walk-in Cooler
• 60 quart mixer
• High-capacity Freezer
This gorgeous piece of equipment will be the cornerstone of our kitchen and responsible for every pizza and loaf of bread that we bake. More than simply a deck oven, this oven is manufactured with every detail in mind that is essential to every baker. Your participation in this campaign will be the reason that every pie that comes out of our kitchen is baked to perfection. You will have a hand in every Driftwood Oven pizza. With our mobile oven, we've already raised nearly all of the funding necessary to turn this dream into a reality. You've been there with us since day one; when we were baking pies in the sweltering heat, as well as the bitter cold. You have watched us grow through both our successes and failures. You have witnessed our dedication, work ethic and our passion. We have shared stories and laughter, along with countless slices of pizza. Without your support over the past two years, we wouldn't find ourselves at the precipice of this amazing opportunity. For all of these reasons, we are turning to you now.

Who We Are
Together, we are Driftwood Oven. A mobile, wood-fired baking company established in Pittsburgh in 2015. Individually, we are Neil Blazin and Justin Vetter. We are two friends who took a chance on our love of sourdough bread and pizza and the love we have for the city of Pittsburgh.
We have honed our skills throughout our years of experience in the service industry. Serving, bartending, baking and managing have led Justin and Neil to this opportunity to grow a business of their own.
We met at the esteemed Legume Bistro and quickly became great friends. We have worked together for the past five years, two of those as business owners. We couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity to serve the people of Pittsburgh for years to come.

Risks and challenges
Restaurants face a variety of challenges besides just making food for people. However, between Neil and Justin, they have over 30 years of restaurant and service industry experience. Their careers have prepared them for the logistical, technical, and managerial work that will need to be done for this project to be successful. To help guide their decisions, they have established partnerships with a small business attorney, an accountancy firm, and an insurance group.
