What is Corkit?
Corkit is not only a unique way to display your memorable cork collection, but it's a fun and challenging game; whether to play solitaire or multi-player, up to 6 friends or family members of any age. Corkit was created while visiting a local winery on a busy weekend night. We all know how frustrating long wait times can be when wining or dining, so why not have some fun to pass the time? Corkit Game Board is an unfinished, solid piece of quality wood, allowing you to stain, paint or finish as you desire. We personally prefer our own Corkit Game Board unfinished, with a natural look, but use your imagination to create the perfect Corkit Game Board for you!
Who is Corkit for?
Corkit is for practically everyone and is fun for both adults and children of almost any age. The game is great to play on family game night! Take Corkit to your favorite restaurant to play, and alleviate wait times while also keeping the kids occupied! You can even add the cork from that night's dinner wine to the game! So put down those cell phones and have some quality time with your family and friends and play a few games of Corkit! We think you might just get addicted!
About Corkit and Kickstarter:
We are looking for your help to "kickstart" Corkit! By making a pledge of practically any dollar amount, not only will you be helping us to spread Corkit across America and beyond, but you will also receive a great reward! Choose from any of the rewards below and pledge the listed amount or more! Once we get funded, we will start the process of ordering everything needed to fulfill orders and you will receive your reward around the date listed on each reward.
How to Play Corkit:
The object of Corkit is to collect the most corks by making as many multi-jump moves as possible, while trying to block and prevent your opponent(s) from doing the same.
Begin the game by filling all holes in the game board with corks except for one anywhere on the board. Take turns and choose any cork to jump over a horizontally or vertically adjacent cork into an open hole, and remove the jumped cork. Each player can jump as many horizontally and/or vertically adjacent corks as possible in their turn, as long as each of the jumps lands in an open hole. Once a player releases their cork, their turn ends, and they collect all of their jumped corks to keep their score. Play continues with each player until there are no more possible moves on the board. The player that collects the most corks by the end of the game wins. In case of a tie, those players have a rematch until there is only one winner.
Options for more advanced play: Diagonal jumps, in addition to horizontal and vertical jumps, are allowed. Once a player touches a playable cork, they must move that cork.
One player game: Choose a cork and jump over any adjacent cork into an open hole, removing the jumped cork. Continue until there are no possible moves left. The object is to remove as many corks from the board as possible. Also try playing solitaire Corkit using diagonal moves in addition to horizontal and vertical moves!
What are we using Kickstarter funds for?
The following percentages and dollar amounts are based on our funding goal of $18,700:
80% or $14,960 - Corkit Game Boards and recycled wine corks and additional rewards expenses. This amount includes actual shipping charges for all rewards.
10% or $1,870 - Printing, marketing, and shipping material expenses. These are the costs to pay for the cork labels and bags, printing and mailing of promotional materials for Corkit and shipping materials for all rewards.
10% or $1,870 - Kickstarter/credit card processing fees - These are the fees that Kickstarter and the credit card company charges us to run our campaign and process credit cards.
Risks and challenges
Fortunately, we have already invested the time, money and resources needed to bring our Corkit game to the final pre-production samples stage of the production process with a reliable and tested manufacturer that we have used many times before on various other products, with no issues whatsoever. All tooling needed for production of the Corkit Game Boards is complete and pre-production samples have recently been approved. We are now ready to run our initial order of Corkit games exactly as our samples are shown. We will be ready to fulfill orders on a timely basis and meet our estimated delivery date, but a possible overwhelming response from Kickstarter pledges could create a challenge that we are fully prepared to accept! We are committed to shipping you your Corkit game or reward on time after we get funded through Kickstarter. We also have multiple sources in line for the recycled wines cork playing pieces and do not anticipate any problems with delivering them with the Corkit Game Boards. We do not anticipate any risks or other challenges in the production of the Corkit games as we have created many products for the retail market over the last 15 years and regularly produce and ship thousands at a time in our warehouse in Westerville Ohio. We are very excited to deliver Corkit to everyone that would like one!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
