About this project
Hello and thanks for taking a moment to check out my project!
NO SWEETS FOR SANTA is a Christmas Children’s book where Santa swears off sweets as he delivers presents on Christmas Eve. He progressively gets hungrier at each stop until he finds a special house that leaves him pizza instead of cookies.
I created this story ten years ago to support our family tradition of making homemade pizza on Christmas Eve and then leaving Santa a slice or two. Each year that passed, the story grew from the original one-page to become a story book, a song, and special pizza recipes we’ve been able to share.
In 2009, I had a friend draw pictures for the story and I self published the book locally. This version was a coloring book style and I sold copies through a local pizza chain. I received lots of positive feedback and I decided to seek out a professional artist, beginning the process to create the full color hardback edition this project is for.
Much like Santa on Christmas Eve, the hardback book will have lots of extra “presents” beyond the story itself. Besides the fantastic art by Mark Mariano, the back of the book will contain the NO SWEETS FOR SANTA song with musical arrangement so you and your family can sing along on Christmas Eve. You’ll also get some great pizza recipes that we’ve used over the years, so you can make your own pizza for Santa. Finally, you’ll get a behind the scenes look at our family tradition and how it went from the initial idea to the many parts it holds today.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read about my project. Whether you decide to pledge or not, I hope you and your family have some special traditions that you share each Christmas.
Special Note: For every $100.00 I raise above my goal, I will be donating a copy of the 2010 hardback version of No Sweets For Santa to one local school or library. My goal is to do some readings during the holiday season and share the story with local families.
