      Hi David,
Thanks for the honest feedback. Firstly let me say that we are sorry you've had this experience with the product. The material actually has alot more glass than plastic which is why this could only be attempted with this type of composite. We did extensive testing on the material and have had them lasting with minimal wear at over 1500 bottle openings. It seems as though your experience may have been due to some manufacturing variances. As the product relies on the glass fibres moving evenly into the blade area there may have been some where this did not occur as effectively. We have found that this may have affected a small number of the production. Please contact me directly at mike@tacticagear.com and we will send you out a replacement.

FYI we are also coming out with a stainless version for the professional market. As the Tactica One was aimed at the consumer market we wanted something that would handle a busy bar environment. The Tactica On Pro is about 4 times heavier at 80g but will last a lifetime in a commercial environment.

Thanks again for the feedback, really do appreciate it.
      Cheers,
      Mike

Hello, I bought a few of your beautifully designed bottle openers. Now that I've used one for quite a while I wanted to write a review. Design-wise: so nice, beautiful angles and shape. Use: business edge could be a bit sharper to get under cap edges better. Materials: this is where your product (for a lock of a nicer but relevant word) FAILS! It's plastic (no matter how you'd like to describe it). If I saw this in store for $25-30 CAD (since that's where I'm from) and it was metal (actually steel (preferably wrought iron) or a harder metal--aluminum edges would wear) I would have bought it in a heartbeat. But plastic, for $20, now way. But, you may think, you did, and yes, I did, b/c I actually thought it was metal, only later in your updates did I realize it was plastic. At that point, I really started to believe your hype. But, after a couple of months of semi-regular use, already too dull business-end is all chewed away and can barely catch the cap end. This requires more effort, that finally leads to fracture at handle. I wish I could show photos, but take my word this product did not go through any product testing. Thank God, I've misplaced the other in my house somewhere and didn't give them away as gifts as planned, b/c they are terrible. I'd have returned them, but KS is no store. I really wanted to love and believe in your product, but I should have canceled my pledge when I realized this thing that gets enormous wear wasn't metal--anything less was is silly. Live and learn I guess!

Just wanted to let you know that I received my Tactica about 3 weeks ago and I'm quite happy with it. At first I thought the material would propably show signs of usage very fast, but it didn't. I already opened several bottles and the
Tactica is still in mint condition. So it may be a "simple" product, but it's the best I've received from everything I pledged for on Kickstarter yet. Thank you!

      HI David,
There has been a mistake on my part. If you look down the thread I thought I had responded to you but it was David Bishop. Apologies for this. Compounding this was some last minute OS travel that resulted in alot of communication being on hold. Again my apologies. We have always tried to communicate as effectively as we could throughout the campaign and keep everyone update.

As for your issue with not receiving your reward rest assured you will. As you can appreciate we have a lot of backers and things go missing. Currently we have had issues with postage stamps coming off the packaging (due to the plastic packaging) and as a result some parcels not getting to their destination. Your replacement shipment was sent out a few days ago. I'm sorry for your experience to date but hopefully you should receive your parcel within 2 weeks. Please let us know when you do.
Thanks again for the support and talk to you soon,

      This is getting annoying

I sent an email to nfo@tacticagear.com on 6/14 as requested, with a copy of my pledge info and my shipping address and never heard back. On this forum you indicated I should send this info (after it was sent). Not sure if I am alone, and this is just some screw-up, or the problem is more widespread. In any event, you have had all my info for almost 2 weeks and have not responded to the email, or acknowledged receipt and then 2 days ago send a note on this forum requesting the info.

It would be nice if you acknowledged receipt of my info; apologized for not sending it on time, and then not sending it when you received my email

      Hi David,
Sorry for the delay. I've sent you a message to double check your address. As you can imagine when we are sending out over 500 packages some of them go astray. We've had a few come back due to wrong address details, etc. As you can see by the other comments people are getting them, unfortunately we do not have control of the postal service. Once you reconfirm your details we will send more out. Thanks

      Received in the UK!

      My first thoughts...

Great build, I love the material used, I scrapped around the inside just to take the edge off of it.

As a collector of bottle openers I can see me grabbing this one to use in the garden for BBQ's as it is a comfortable size and super lightweight.

I initially thought that you could only use is bottle opener one way but I was wrong which is a big thumbs up as that is very annoying with other openers.

Well happy with the Tactica One, a well run project.

Received it in West Oz today. Tried it today on some Fat Yak Pale Ale. Works perfectly. Yumz.

Could this be made with a slot/opening in handle so that one could loop it through belt loops as a key hanger? Maybe with a neodymium magnet in the flange so that one could stick it it to the fridge door?

      Version 2.0 anyone?

    42. Chijoff+Co 2-time creator on March 6, 2015

      Hi Richard,
We are into tooling and expecting to have another update this week. At this stage we have rough machined and are moving into the finishing process of the tool (which would take about 1-2 weeks) After this we get into off-tool samples. We are still planning on shipping at the end of March at this stage although it may creep into the beginning of April. Will keep you all posted though

      Steve,
Yes we are pleased as well. These sorts of issues always apear when developing products but we know from experience that we can find a way through. I agree that the new design is a little more solid but still retains the sleek design. I also is now about the size of an Iphone, so even better as part of your everyday carry. Will keep you all posted on the next stages of manufacture.
      Cheers,

Good to hear that the new shape works with even more bottles! I also think that it looks a little bit 'beefier', more solid in a way. For some reason I really like it even better than the previous, sleeker version...

Just filled in the survey, so you should have all my details for further when they are ready to be fabricated and shipped!

      Hi Sean,
Thanks for the reminder. We have been working with our manufacturer on a final prototype and the surveys slipped my mind. We are in the process of opening a number of different brands of craft beer to ensure it fits the bill. Early tests are very positive.
I'll get out the surveys by the end of the week and will send out a complete update as to where we stand and expected ETA. Thanks again for the heads up, appreciate it.
