Cat & Cloud believes coffee can be the catalyst for positive experiences. We want to find passionate people, teach them to give thoughtful coffee service and create a culture of personal development and growth.
Chris Baca & Jared Truby (the Cat and the Cloud respectively) met at a regional barista competition in 2006. Although they lived hours apart, nothing could stop the magnetism that would eventually lead them to work together on many projects under the moniker “Trubaca”. Chris & Jared believe in pushing boundaries, never settling for the status quo, and assessing ways to improve both their lives and their work.
In 2013, Charles joined the team. Charles' background is a mix of business analytics and NGO work. Charles previously worked on TechnoServe's East Africa Coffee Project, a project that helps more than 100,000 farmers in the region improve the quality and quantity of the coffee they grow, as well as connect them directly with buyers in the US, Europe, and Asia..
The three of them began to hang out, learn from each other, and dream big together. Through their time together at coffee competitions, camping trips, and at work - they realized it was time to create something special. Cat & Cloud was born.
The money raised from this campaign will allow us to finish the buildout of our first brick and mortar roasting and retail location. We have a small loan and all of our personal money into the project, but need just a bit more to put towards our main piece of equipment - our roaster, and to put the final touches on the interior of the building. Everything we're doing is on a tight budget, and we believe you can do a lot with a little; we're doing as much of the work as we can ourselves, and we promise we won't spend your money on overly fancy things that won't contribute to our customer experience!
Risks and challenges
Ultimately, our biggest challenge is our size. Our team is small - there are 3 of us, and managing a buildout along with all of our other current responsibilities- it's a large load. We do all of our design in-house so we'll have to set aside time to produce everything. We are absolutely crazy though, so we know we can get it handled.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
