Cagney Cried is a feature film written by and starring Steven Randazzo (imdb.com/name/nm0709738/), Louise Lasser (imdb.com/name/nm0489837/), Paul Moreno (imdb.com/name/nm2451388/), and Juliette Bennett (imdb.com/name/nm2200434/).
The film is co-directed by Bennett Springsteel and Yevgeniy Rokhlin, and produced by Michael Canzoniero (imdb.com/name/nm0134857/) and Studio 13 (studio13nyc.com). It tells the story of Nick Fazzola, an older working class New Yorker who's recently moved to Los Angeles to try to pursue a career in acting.
Nick moves into a cramped apartment with two young aspiring actresses who drive him up the walls. On his way to audition for his dream role - the lead in a remake of a Jimmy Cagney film, he has a run-in with the law and gets thrown in prison where he meets two younger inmates, also down on their luck. Though at first their personalities clash, eventually they bond over their struggles and failures in life, and Nick's dramatic retellings of his favorite Cagney films. By the time Nick's sentence is up, they become friends and decide to redefine success on their own terms.
The film will be shooting for 3 weeks in NYC this February. We've raised $50,000 for the film so far and we've already begun putting together a talented cast and crew, but we're looking to raise more money to make this film the best it can be.
The extra funds will be used to improve the quality of our production design and cinematography, get us out to shoot some necessary pick-up shots in Los Angeles, and spend more time editing the film.
Check back often as we'll be posting updates with photos and videos. All donation levels include exclusive access to further behind-the-scenes updates once the Kickstarter funding period has ended. Thank you for your interest and we hope you'll help us make this project happen!
