Dear Friends, Family and Neighbors
As of this past Friday the Red Hook Bait and Tackle is officially OPEN again!! Yes... we were partially open after the storm serving beer out of garbage cans full of ice, but it was so we could be a place of refuge for weary volunteers and a community center for locals to discuss the finer points of disaster recovery. It was a very difficult time but it's a time we already feel nostalgia for.
There are still 13 days left in our campaign and fortunately we have already met our goal!! The money you have pledged will go a long way toward paying for all of the work that we did to repair the damage that Sandy caused. In a neighborhood like Red Hook where it is hard enough to be in business during the best of times, it was so important for us to reopen as quickly as possible. With love on our side and a remarkable group of volunteers, we were able to bust it out in three and a half weeks!!! There is still more to do but the bar looks better than ever!!
There are so many people to thank that we don't even know how to begin. People helped in so many different ways. We are forever grateful for the love and support you have all given to help us save what we now realize is a neighborhood institution. Long live the Bait and Tackle!!! May the next nine years be as good as the first!!
From the bottom of our hearts...
Karin and Barry
