We have reached our goal! Thank you to all our backers and everyone who has supported this project! The Kickstarter campaign is still live!! You can still pre-order a CD or choose other levels of support--it will help us with final costs and with getting the word out once the albums are released. More info in our Update section. Thanks again!
Two cities, two brothers, two albums. The Wooldridge Brothers, a long-running Americana act is well along on its seventh album, and Scott Wooldridge is all but finished on his first solo album project (and it's about time!). We have self-financed the projects to this point but are turning to crowdfunding to help us over the hump with mastering, manufacturing, and marketing (the 3 M's).
From Milwaukee, Brian, Julie and the rest of the band are working hard on a new project that we're excited about, due for release next year. This includes tracks that John Munson, (The New Standards, Semisonic, Trip Shakespeare) helped out on with production work. The new album is also much more a band project than our last effort, with a lot of input from musicians with whom we've been working.
At the same time, in his Minneapolis lair, Scott is finishing up his solo album, a reflection of the acoustic-based sound he's developed in the Twin Cities. Scott's also worked with some outstanding musicians, and his project features acoustic instruments such as violin, harmonium, and mandolin.
Like many bands, the WBs are turning to crowd-funding to help finance the final steps of our two projects. Fans in both cities (and beyond) can now get involved by pre-ordering the albums through this Kickstarter campaign. They can get extras by contributing at the higher levels. And they can get a joint WBs/Scott solo product with the vinyl single.
We appreciate any support you can give us--and please help us share this campaign through social media and word of mouth.
Risks and challenges
Once we've reached our funding goal, there is little risk--the solo album is recorded and nearing the completion of final mixes; the WBs album is mostly recorded and with this funding we will have enough to finish the project.
Fulfillment of rewards will be split between our Minneapolis and Milwaukee headquarters, and we feel we have the resources to get that squared away. Since the two album projects will be released several months apart, some rewards will arrive sooner than others. But we will keep in touch with contributors through this KS page and provide updates, so you'll know when to expect the rewards you've chosen.
If we are able to stretch our funding beyond our initial goal, that will give us a little more cushion for any unforeseen costs. But overall, this isn't our first rodeo, so we feel once we reach the goal we should be able to handle the rest.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
