You can Banksia on us!
G'day Tribal Chiefs!
As we close in on the end of week one, we'd like to welcome all our new backers! Thanks for joining us in the Arena here. We might have had a slow start, but we are steadily building our community day by day.
We wanted to do a special shout out to our French backers. As you know, we have been investigating how to go about getting a translation organised. We have some good news! We have organised someone to work on this translation for us. So fear not, we will be able to provide a French translation PDF file for the game so you can play in your preferred language! Please share this with your fellow countrymen and women and let's get more of those little Occulites over to France!

CHIEF BANKSIA - FLORIS TRIBE SPOTLIGHT
Chief Banksia was known by his enemies for his brutality and stubborness. During the Drums of War he would only lead his strongest members into a fight, a decision that would often leave them woefully outnumbered. This was never a problem for Banksia who saw this as a challenge. He has always had a plan that could snatch remarkable victories from the very jaws of defeat.
Here is Floris Chief Banksia's Player Board. As with Chief Grublic, he is strong in attack and defence with five allocation spaces on both his basic attack Stone Swing and his basic defence *Parry*. Unlike Grublic though, he needs at least two dice allocated to his basic defence to be able to use it.
His Innate Ability Savage Strike gives him the space he needs to wind up his next attack, or to build his defence. Being able to move an adjacent figure away one space is as good as moving away one space, but doesn't force him to give up locations next to a terrain space. In fact the benefit of Banksia being next to a terrain space is reinforced with all three of his Tribal Abilities. But before we get to those, Savage Strike is one of the coolest abilities to use in Alliance mode and we would suggest it is much more valuable in that game mode. Floris Chief Banksia is more about being out for himself, but Savage Strike is the exception, being the perfect way to start off what we like to call the 'Pinball move' where an opponent is knocked from one combatant to another while their teammate tries to get over to help as quickly as possible!
His Band I Tribal Ability card Camouflage essentially allocates an imaginary shield die to his *Parry* ability which is never spent and lasts until he attacks. This gives him the same defensive capability as Grublic's *Shield Block* however being a Floris Occulite, it never takes long for him to start attacking and that's when...
...his Band II Tribal Ability card Ambush comes into play. This forces him to unready his Band I Tribal Ability card to conduct a base attack against an adjacent enemy. The number of dice allocated to Ambush count as additional unblockable hits by surprising his enemy.
The jewel on Banksia's crown (or more accurately the eucalyptus flower on his head) is his Band III Tribal Ability card Brutal Charge. This gives Banksia unprecedented flexibility by allowing him to move up to four spaces before landing an unblockable four hits on his foe. If he started his action adjacent to a terrain space, those numbers both increase to five. This is a devastating attack that is difficult to get away from, but leaves him quite vulnerable as he prepares and directly after the attack.
Floris Chief Banksia is easy to play as, but still has some interesting decisions to make if you want to make the the most of his abilities. He is one of Shae's favourite Tribal Chiefs to use and she relishes every Ambush and Brutal Charge she can muster (seriously, you should see the smile on her face... its a bit of a worry!)
