Quantum Rush, the combat-loaded future racer, is back! This time, as a full-fledged standalone game with lots of single-player content.
About this project
Thank you and see you soon in Quantum Rush!
First of all we'd like to thank all those who supported us through their backing or through their helpful feedback.
It's sad that we didn't reach the target but development will continue!
How do we go on now?!
We will definitely develop Quantum Rush: Champions and release it on Steam as soon als we get greenlit! Please vote for Quantum Rush:Champions on Steam Greenlight so that the game will be available on Steam this year!
You can now vote for Quantum Rush: Champions on Steam Greenlight! Every vote counts! Thank you!
So there are many exciting things to come in the near term.

Our goal is to make the Quantum Rush racing experience - the game with speeds up to and beyond the sound barrier, mounted weapons and collectable power-ups, gravity-defying, customizable racers and exciting race tracks on earth and in space - accessible to everyone.
We continually receive lots of feedback along the lines of, “Hey, awesome game! But I don’t want to play online, can’t you implement a single-player version and make the game run offline?” This feedback started during our Kickstarter for the online game and we keep receiving this kind of request, especially via Steam, where Quantum Rush has been Greenlit by the international gaming community. Thanks again to everyone who voted!!!
Another reason why we would love to spend time on creating Quantum Rush: Champions is that many people who would like to play Quantum Rush Online currently can’t do so, at least not properly. The online game requires an authoritative server and we are not (yet) in a position to set up a network of these servers across the world. Consequently, for the moment, only players from central Europe can really enjoy Quantum Rush Online.
If you happen to live in central Europe or just want to have a look at the game (the tutorial and training modes will run smoothly independently of your connection to the server), just create a free account at www.quantum-rush.net, download the client and you are good to go. Currently open beta, Quantum Rush Online will go gold at the end of June. There will not be any account resets between now and then.
This new iteration of Quantum Rush will focus on single player. The main feature will therefore be a Career mode with an initial 3 campaigns, one for each of the three racer manufacturers, with more added through DLC. In each campaign, you will have to master a variety of challenges to unlock upgrades for your racers (engines, weapons, skins etc.), boss challenges and more powerful racers for higher tiers. The ultimate challenge of each campaign will be the tier 7 boss challenge. As in Quantum Rush Online, speeds will increase with every tier.
Lots of different challenge types will continuously require you to adapt your strategy while you progress through a campaign. Two examples of potential challenges are "Last Man Standing", where every 20 seconds the racer in last place is destroyed and "Time Challenge", where you have to finish the race within a certain time to score bronze, silver or gold.
Whatever you unlock by playing through the Career mode will also become available for the Arcade mode. The Arcade mode will allow you to define your own races: number of opponents, AI difficulty, challenge type, race track and so on.
Another very important addition will be an improved artificial intelligence with implementation of special AI behavior for specific challenges.
Quantum Rush: Champions will support multiple player profiles, so different people can save their progress and game settings separately on the same PC.
Further details about the game's features will soon be released through our Kickstarter updates!
If the initial funding amount is surpassed, additional funding will count toward the following stretch goals. Whenever a stretch goal is met, we will add a new one. Let us know what you would like in the comments!
1. Extended gamepad support ($40,000)
With the user interface of Quantum Rush Online, gamepad support would be limited to controlling your racer during a race. If we hit this stretch goal, we will create a completely new user interface for the parts of the game that exist outside of the races. This interface will be especially designed for the standalone game and offer complete gamepad compatibility.
2. Ghost mode ($50,000)
Race against members of the development team. We will capture races from our best pilots and turn them into ghosts for you to beat. Once you have beaten them, you can race against your own ghost.
3. Split screen ($80,000)
Want to share your screen with a friend? Implementing a split-screen multi-player mode will be quite some work, because a lot of core code will have to be re-written. Hitting this stretch goal will allow us to invest the time required to realize this additional feature.
We have compiled a list of concepts and screenshots for your viewing pleasure!
Mostly two things. First of all, we need funding to go through with this project. Creating a standalone version of Quantum Rush and adding lots of new racing modes to provide a diversity of different challenges for the Career mode and the various campaigns will be a lot of work.
Secondly, having an active community during the game’s development, instead of only afterwards, will allow us to release a better game in the end.
Risks and challenges
You would think that developing a standalone game based on an existing online game shouldn't be a very difficult undertaking. However things are not always as straight-forward as that. From a technical point of view there are a few hurdles to overcome and design needs some finality but the team here is confident and gearing up to start work. The main points of interest will be designing the campaigns for the Career mode, creating fun challenges for them and making sure the difficulty level is well balanced throughout the game. We also want to ensure that the career and challenge system will flexible enough for extension with DLC.

Yes! You will be able to control your racer with most available gamepads. If we reach our first stretch goal, we will even create a special user interface for the standalone game that will allow you to control all areas of the game without touching a mouse or keyboard.
