Jesús, Teresa and Germain make short films in every free moment they can find when they're not working. Jesús and Teresa are in graduate school at Duke University in the Romance Studies department doing PhDs. Germain teaches French at Duke. The three of them met at Duke three years ago and for the last year and a half have been making films together.
Together with friends they make the "Joe & Nancy Mysteries" series:
Go to visit our blog to meet each character in depth:
Here's our rough overview of the series: Joe and Nancy have a detective agency to earn extra money by solving mysteries during graduate school. They have solved several cases so far with the help of their friends Bess, Dave, Checho and Callie, but never have made any money(!)
Plot for the Beach Episode: After Joe & Nancy pass their prelims they head to the beach. But their celebration gets cut short when Bess discovers a dead body:

Fundraising on kickstarter is easy: you like our project you can donate money starting at $1 minimum. We're more than happy with that $1! Do it! It's quick and easy -- if you have an Amazon account it takes less than 30 seconds. Also, if we don't meet our $2,000 goal you won't get charged. This is all-or-nothing fundraising on the bold frontier of crowd-sourced funding! If you donate you get prizes! So check out what we're offering for each level of backer support. We think there's some cool stuff.
If we don't reach our goal by April 27 at 8am you aren't charged! We will get none of the money unless the goal is met.

So who is responsible for the wonderful music?
We get this question a lot, so we'll take this opportunity to heap well-deserved praise on Eileen Marie Moore our composer in residence. You can read more about her here: http://lead512.wordpress.com/about/eileen-marie-moore/ or on her IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5550843/ In a word, we feel LUCKY to have her. Oh, and she also happens to be the director's mother :)
Risks and challenges
The primary risk we'll face is inclement weather. If the weather is uncooperative the days we try to film, we'll have to push our filming date back significantly. The other risks we could potentially encounter include car accidents on the way to the filming location or if an actor experiences ill health. If these setbacks arise we'll regroup and film at the end of the summer/ beginning of the next semester. We'll most certainly finish filming -- we've managed to keep producing more episodes despite heavy workloads in graduate school and studying for and passing qualifying exams!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
