I'm hoping to have an update soon regarding Core Rules, once I've talked to Cellbloc Studios about the backer list sent and some minor issues (such as autograph plates for foreign orders).
Any update as to when the books will be sent? Feb 5, 2017... I spent $250 and 3+ years is a long time to wait... Thanks.
Good morning and Happy New Year to you, as well! Just either message me here at Kickstarter or email me at tmlee15-at-gmail.com about your new address and I'll take care of it. Unfortunately, it might be a bit too late for upgrade, but let me check with Cellbloc Studios to make sure. Thanks!
Good Morning Tony,
I hope all is well with you and your New Year has been pleasant thus far. I was hoping you could point me in the correct direction for updating my survey with my current mailing address. Finally I assume all pledge levels are locked at this time, but I figured I would ask if it is possible to upgrade to the Champion level from the Hero. I completely understand if this is not possible at this time. Thank you again for your perseverance.
Yes, we're still planning on having books printed at the plant nearest to backers, wherever that may be. We'll mail out signed autograph sticky plates (with number for limited hardcovers) separately, so it's kinda like a DIY for foreign orders.
To avoid custom and Import fees for Europeans (for example), you planned to have the books printed in Europe? That could make getting them signed a bit difficult ... For my part I'm willing to forgo any signing / numbering, though a signed card by Larry would be very nice.
Sorry, just got back in town. Just the Core Rules at the moment, as we still need to find out if other books have the same layout problem. We will number the hardcovers and have them signed by Larry Elmore at the very least. Thanks!
Will all the books be ready at one time? Or is there more of a delay for the Hero/Champion level backer? Everything still signed and numbered as posted? Thanks.
As mentioned in previous updates, I'm leery about posting estimations now to avoid letdown... Suffice to say we are working on it and about to get into the get-a-galley-proof stage. I'll definite post update when it's at the printers for sure, and when the Core Rules are ready to ship out. Thanks!
So we're now three years past the estimated delivery date; do we know how much longer it's going to be?
Congratulations, you are now the latest KS project due me. I am a huge fan and I am hoping that it will come to fruition by next year.
Great to hear, because I still want those books ;)
Hi Stefan (and all Foreign Backers),
Yes, that's the plan all along, to print foreign orders in an European (or Australian, or Canadian, or South American) plant and ship from there, so you don't pay anything more. The backup plan is to go through a professional fulfillment house. I, for one, will fight to NOT have you pay any more than you did when you pledged.
Quite some time ago it was said that shipping to Germany (for example) would happen from Britain, which would mean no additional taxes and custom fees (as long as Britain is still part of the EU). Has this changed? Because if yes and shipment happens from the US, I will have to pay additional fees and I'm not sure that - after such a long time (no active Pathfinder group at the moment) - I want to do that.
Final quarter of 2106 is ballpark figure. Production is pretty much out of my hands right now. If I had no help at all, you probably would've gotten it a bit earlier, since I did get a proof copy (a photo was posted in an update back in May, I believe), but then the quality would suffer since the printer made the cover too dark and other problems I wouldn't be able to correct alone (at least not with the printer not answering emails and calls at all).
I'm refraining to discuss any date or tentative general schedule we set, because I really want to make sure it really goes and everything's good this time. I'll post news on progress when I can, but I'd much prefer you guys something solid like "Core Rules is in print!" and "It will start shipping XXX date!" than an eventual letdown.
Thank you and everyone else for hanging in there!
so it sounds like before the end of this year we will be seeing the core rule book in hard cover or is that a guess right now, nothing against just tiring to get an idea when we could expect it. I also know you have been working on thing so and keeping us updated on it all, so thank you for that
We're waiting for our co-publisher Cellbloc to finally clear up their schedule so they can get last stage of production done and send the book to the printer. At this point, Cellbloc is handling the production of hardcopy books, and they've been super-busy with their own releases. But from our discussion, it should get rolling in last quarter of 2016. (We did set a target date, but I'd rather not announce it until I'm sure we'll hit it.)
I'm also working with Larry on some of the campaign fulfillment that were surprises to both of us (see the most recent Update for details). Anything I'm unable to fulfill, I will provide either suitable replacement or appropriate refund (or combination thereof).
What is the status for the campaign? Any update? Thanks!
No idea about the Word doc (always saw creators using dropbox or something similar for Word docs).
On the one hand, I'm glad that you're trying to finish this (thanks for doing this) ... on the other hand it sounds like a lot more waiting ... oh well, it's not like I haven't got other things to do (looks at his box with unpainted miniatures).
This is kinda embarrassing, but does anyone know how to attach a Word doc in an Kickstarter Update (or if that's possible)? I'd like to upload a chapter or two of the New Vinnengael for backers as an attachment, but couldn't find any way to do that...
Apologies for not having enough yet to do a meaningful Update. I would divulge, though, that a couple months back, around March, I entertained the thought of just throwing in the towel and refunding everybody, hence my somewhat cryptic comment then... But I changed my mind after a talk with James over at Cellbloc, so I'll keep trying to hammer this baby through. Admittedly, this will take a lot of time and Cellbloc has their own projects that are always rightfully going to be their priority, so I once again thank you for your patience and support! (And if you don't feel like waiting and want out, just let me know and we'll work out some sort of a refund schedule.)
Sorry for not having Update yet... The tax season slowed me as well as our friends and co-publishers at Cellbloc Studios a bit since Uncle Sam wants his money. They're getting back on track, but I'm leaving tomorrow (Friday, April 22) to hopefully finish taking care of everything overseas, and won't be available till next Thursday (April 27). Should have some sort of Update soon thereafter. Given the Internet access or possible lack thereof, I might be incommunicado in the meantime, so please be patient if you can't get a hold of me. Thanks!
Good to hear ... will be a long week then ;)
I'm hoping to have an update in a week or so, and also happily reporting that the situation doesn't look to be as ominous or gloomy as I have thought in my previous comment :)
Somehow that sounds a bit ominous. Hope I'm wrong ...
Hi Grum (and Everybody), regrettably there's still no hardcopy books yet... I have not heard from co-publisher Cellbloc Studios about the Core Rules lately but they were very occupied with the next phase of their SnarfQuest game so it's understandable. Given everything that has happened so far and lately in my personal life, I'll be making a decision about the Sovereign Stone line and this Kickstarter campaign soon, and will have a Update regarding that as soon as possible. Thanks!
You mean the "real" books, not the PDFs? Nope, they have not been sent out yet ... read through the last couple of updates to see where the Project stands.
I am still waiting for the books and pictures, has anyone received these yet?
Jerry, do you get an error message when you click the link in your email?
Try clicking the link here on the project page under "Updates".
The latest link for the adventure doesn't work. I get an error message.
Sigh ... it's ok, I have more time for reading books in winter anyway ;)
@Francois (and everybody, really): No quite yet. We're still trying to get the pages for the Core Rules to align the way we wanted; with everyone else trying to find time outside real-world job, and this being way out of my expertise, it's been slower coming than I expected, unfortunately. However, I'm expecting the maps to come in for the Elves book fairly soon for it to go into layout, then out in PDF hopefully the first or second week of July. Meanwhile, revision of the New Vinnengael book continues to plod along. So we're kind of in a lull at the moment.
I do want to mention that The Piazza is running a poll to add a new campaign forum, and Sovereign Stone is on the list! If you'd like it to happen, please head over to http://www.thepiazza.org.uk/bb/viewtopic.php…, sign up and vote for Sovereign Stone as the campaign forum you'd like to see!
Any news ?
I'm with Peter, I have 9 that I am waiting for that are overdue. 2-3 that are several years past.
Thanks, Peter! 6 KS outstanding?!? Wow, hope at least some of them come through for you. I believe the backers deserved to know what's going on since they thought enough of a project to support it, so keeping all of you in the loop and updated is the least I can do!-)
hey Lee don't sweat it, right now I have about 6 kickstarters that are about 2- 2/12 years behind and don't give any updates, at least you are giving updates and sound like you close to getting me the book which is leaps and bounds ahead of those other kickstarter that in short have fallen through. so tell me you running a little behind, is no big deal to me , but keeping us updated on it is what I like, and thank you.
Thanks, Lee! I haven't dug deep into 5E as of yet, but I think conversion should be easy enough.
Also, wanna say that I'm waiting on just the cover thumbnail for "Adventure Anthology", then I'll be able to make the PDF available (via RPGNow/DriveThruRPG) to all of you!
I'm in no rush :) I have always enjoyed this setting. The pdf's are a great addition to my gaming table (though I'll probably convert to 5E as it has become our default rule-set). Even if that ugly old thing called "real life" keeps the hard covers out of my hands, I really am not one to look back and have regrets :)
Forward and onward! :)
Stefan: you've been one of the most staunchest supporters of this project and I appreciate it very much! I feel you all deserve the most transparent explanation I could offer, and at the same time I completely understand how the lack of printed books could be overwhelming frustrating... There is absolutely no one to blame but me if there's still no print books come August, and I would want refund myself if I were in your shoes :) Fortunately, I can still say with reasonable certainty that the Core Rulebook, at least, should go out in March.
Francois and Lee: Thank you for hanging there too. I'll do my best to make sure the print books and all other fulfillment obligations are the best they can be!
Tony, thznk you for being honest, and I hope it all works out for you in the end.
I've struggled a bit with myself ... but I'll wait a bit longer. The PDFs are great and I really want the books. Tony is updating regularly, has been very upfront - so I feel he deserves a bit more time and trust (of course, this is not an attack on those people who want a refund because they no longer play Pathfinder, it's just my reasoning for me personally).
But ... as much as I dislike saying it ... if there is not even one printed book in summer (let's say August), I'll probably ask for a refund, too.
@David: Thank you for backing the project! Sorry it didn't quite unfold as planned, and I hope you did enjoy the PDFs and find a game where you can make use of them!
Truth is, I don't feel comfortable revealing his name in public (since our history isn't all bad :) But anyone interested can message me in private and perhaps we can discuss it there.
I appreciate how up front you're being Tony and that you're still working through the pledges owed on this project.
As your former partner is someone who has done Kickstarters before, can you pass along his name or a project that he was involved with previously so that we can be better educated should his name come up again?
Thanks in advance.
Update: Rec'd pro-rated refund, very prompt.
Good luck Tony. Thanks.
Received a very nice email from Tony w/ regards to a refund. Will update once it's in my paypal acct.
David, William, and Everybody Else,
I fully understand your frustration. The project is in my name so I will take full responsibility and apologize for the long delay. If you would please allow me a bit more time here, I'll explain the issues regarding print books for this project.
When this project launched, I had a partner. We agreed to split the duties (as we had in our many previous collaborations): I handle the creative/editorial side, and he the business and production end, which included printing (along with layout, art print acquisition, etc.). We also agreed to split the proceeds, after projected expenses (listed by him because he had also ran KS campaigns before, whereas this was my first). I wired him his share pretty much right after the Kickstarter ended. The original plan was to have the books printed, shipped, and available for sales by end of 2013. I passed on the drafts for layout in October. Since the intervening and rather turbulent time was chronicled in the Project Updates, I'll fast forward to March, 2014, when he finally announced he was quitting the project without having any of the books done. That was when this turned into a one-man operation and left me with everything that was his -- everything I was unfamiliar with. Another reason for printing the books in 2013 was so that we could write off the printing/shipping/distribution on taxes (something I noticed then wasn't on the original budget). That ended up taking a sizable bite off the funds, as you probably could imagine (so much so that I couldn't pay it all at once and was forced to pay a penalty on top later). There was also no money coming in, of course, in the interim because I had nothing to sell. Meanwhile, I had to find someone to layout the Core Rules (thank you, Ian!) and rest of the books, as well as venture into the production/business side that, frankly, wasn't my forte--and discovering along the way that my ex-partner had also underestimated a few other things in effort, time, and cost.
When I realized I needed to restore the fund to print books and fulfill other project obligations, I began looking for work... and I can honestly say you WOULD have at least two, perhaps even three or four of the books in your hands right now if the American government had started the project for which I was approved to work on as scheduled--back in September. (I made mention of this in my recent Updates too. I still have the job... just waiting on them to send the stuff.)
It's not my intention for this to come off like excuses but as my side of the story. As I've said times before, I'm not quitting or canceling this project because I totally believe if you paid into it you should get everything you expected out of it. What I can tell you is that I'm going to stick it out to the end and do everything I can to facilitate fulfillment (including trying to land a job with an agency in China)... What I can also say is I am reasonably certain I can, someway somehow, get the Core Rulebook printed in March, and then hopefully one book every month thereafter. Meanwhile, I'll comply to any and all requests for refund to the best of my ability and as soon as I'm able. Like I said, the project is in my name, and doesn't matter what setbacks or obstacles there are, I'm ultimately responsible; I want to own up to that and, regardless of your final decision, I will always appreciate the support, patience, and encouragement you've shown. I'll always be grateful that you thought highly enough of this project to back it in the first place. Thank you, and thanks for hearing me out.
David Berkompas, I know your pain. I am at that point now that I no longer support anymore KS projects because of shit like this. It is not worth the wait. It is not worth the stress. It is not worth anything anymore. I am just sticking to those who have been dependable and on time every damn time when they release a KS project.
These companies/entities have no clue the money I possess and the number of people in my wealthy circle who listen to me when I say "DO NOT GIVE TO THOSE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT COME THROUGH WITH THEIR PROMISES"....
I've requested a refund. I don't play PF anymore, and I don't understand how the Project Creator doesn't have the money to pay for the book printing, where did the money go that we pledged in order to get that done?
I've got a really sour taste in my mouth, mostly because of ToH (CSM KS), but the list just seems to keep growing.
I, for one, can wait for the hard-backs (no rush). I am accustomed to using PDFs on my iPad for my gaming table anyway. The hard-backs are to satisfy my collector obsession :)
Anyway, the current PDFs are impressive. Thank you for the hard work and thanks to Mr. Elmore for his imaginative setting (and for giving my 10 year old daughter a love for drawing dragons. LOL).
Dan: Yes, there is, though no idea how good a chance it is. It all depends on when my two new "Day Jobs" start. I am confirmed for one of the them, and should get the other as well. But both are long-term projects without a definitive starting date that I've been waiting on for over a month now... I will say that both are with prominent agencies so they are legit. Assuming I get both, I'll have the initial money to print at least the core books in a month; so if they start, say, November (which isn't totally out of question), I can get the process rolling and aim to have the core books out to you by Christmas (if not sooner). If I end up with just one, the timetable becomes two, maybe three, months from whenever that job/project begins. I'm really excited about the opportunities because they pay well enough for me to catch up quickly and give you, the backers who have been so patient and supportive, the books and rewards you deserved! Meanwhile, I have other pokers in the fire, too, but with payoffs sometime down the road so I'm not counting on them right now, but suffice to say they are just as exciting and I'll announce them when they happen.
