About

 Originally, Magic Miguel started off as a simple Megaman clone because I wanted to play a Megaman game I made. But as time went on, it became its own thing, and I was no longer happy with that, now I want Miguel to be so much more than that. Magic Miguel is basically the game we want to play, and what we want to share with the world.

Magic Miguel takes place in the the kingdom of Wysteria where the absence of the heroic Magic Knight brought upon a calamity by the evil Vladimy, who has returned to bring chaos among the land.

In Magic Miguel, you will go through 12 magical stages as Miguel to free the land of Vladimy and his 8 Magical Minions, in Magic Knight's stead. 

You will jump and shoot your way through stages, find many secrets throughout your journey, and ultimately have your decisive battle against Count Vladimy, while earning powerups on the way.

Fight powerful bosses, maneuver through tricky obstacles, and ultimately, rescue the people of Wysteria!

There is a playable demo available now with two stages and two bosses. Come try it out. It's available to everyone!

  • $5 - SHOW OFF - Everyone will receive a high quality desktop image in different sizes for most common screen sizes
  • $8 - GAME ON! (early) - The first 1000 people to fund early get a small discount on the game.
  • $10 - GAME ON! - You get the game when it is finished.
  • $20 - DANCE MAGIC DANCE - You get the soundtrack along with the game and the desktop image.
  • $40 - HEY I HELPED! - You get your name in the credits, plus all other rewards before this.
  • $80 - I GOT DRAWED - I will personally make a pixel icon, using the Magic Miguel color pallet, of you or an OC of yours.
  • $500 - SUB BOSSY - This reward is unique to this tier. But you get this plus all other rewards from "I GOT DRAWED" and before it. You can work with us in creating a sub boss based on the stage of your choice, so choose wisely. There is a limit of 4 for this reward (1 for each boss) 
  • $1000 - CASTLE BOSSY - This reward is unique to this tier. But you get this plus all other rewards from "I GOT DRAWED" and before it. This tier allows you to work with us in creating one of the two bosses that will show up in Vladimy's Castle. Oh, did I spoil that? There is a limit of 2 for this tier. Your name will also be in a special credit reserved to those who helped with the creation of the game.
  • $1500 - BOSSY - This reward is unique to this tier. But you get this plus all other rewards from "I GOT DRAWED" and before it. You get to work with us in creating one of the 8 bosses for the sequel. If this Kickstarter is successful, there will be a sequel. Plus, any game these bosses appear in, your name will be in the creation credits.
  • $1700 - FAMILIAR - This reward is unique to this tier. But you get this plus all other rewards from "I GOT DRAWED" and before it. You will be able to work with us in creating a common enemy that will appear frequently in the series. Plus, any game these enemies appear in, your name will be in the creation credits.
  • $3500 - YOU AND ME BABY - This reward is unique to this tier. But you get this plus all other rewards from "I GOT DRAWED" and before it. You will be able to work with us in creating an ally that will be a part of the lore of Magic Miguel's universe. Whether it be a rival, or fanboy, or what have you, however, more personal liberties will be taken with this particular creation. We have to stay true to the universe. Plus, any game this character appears in, your name will be in the creation credits.

Development was not easy for this game, as I have no programming skills. I had the art and a story. I wanted to create a video game for the longest time, and when I was younger, the one game I was always fascinated with, was Mega Man. I would create bosses and just imagine them in their own levels. And I finally decided I would do just that. But I wouldn't make him a robot, I would make him magician. And that was when Magic Miguel was born!

Of course, it wouldn't be possible without Lewis or Steve. Without Stave to make the program work, and Lewis to make the game sound good, this would be go nowhere. 

Let's not forget about the many other people who helped, their little additions only made this project better and better.

And they could never understand how much I appreciate them.

  •  Other things to come - We'll be making some changes to Miguel. First off, we will be changing the aspect ratio 16:9. Not only is it better for our game to go widescreen, it is also the golden ratio. 

Not only will it fit in the screen better, but it will also help with enemy placements and boss fights. Making them more accessible, and certain attacks will work more efficiently (one of them being an attack in the demo). We feel this will work for everyone.  

Video game music is very important in our opinion, as such, we wish for you guys to enjoy these samples.

  • When? - The suggested date is September of 2020, but honestly, we can't give a specific date. It can be before and it can be after. But we will make sure to let everyone know when it will be once we are closer to that time.
  • Where? - Currently, our only goal is steam since it has already been greenlit. We will put it on other sites as well, such as gamejolt, but as development continues, and we reach certain stretch goals, we would love to get this on the Switch, and possibly XBox and Playstation. But that all depends on development. We hope you understand. Also, at this point, we only have a Windows release, we are currently working on an Mac and Linux release. 

 The Shop - Buy items from Trick that will help you with your journey, such as lives, potions of regeneration, and possibly those epic lewt crates that totally isn't gambling or anything.

 Movesets - Why have one ability per boss, when you could have many? We hope to include multiple attacks which could be performed via button combinations. Not just that, but it would involve changing Miguel's sprite all together. The sprites in these images are based off updated Miguel Sprites, which will be included in the final product.

 One thing I have noticed is that kickstarter has helped so many people who have wanted to take off in many types of industries, and we felt this would be the best route to take. With so many other funding websites out of there, we chose Kickstarter for it's all or nothing stance on funding, as we would rather get nothing, than get too little and not be able to deliver on our product. Even though I have seen many successes, I have seen a few successes that did not deliver.

Not just that, but game creation takes time and money. We have things that we need to do in our real life work wise, and with a lot of the things that take precedent, that would make the creation of this game obscenely slow, Then there is the price of programming, changing engines to allow better quality in game play. We have been working on this game for 6 years, and we want to speed that up now. Heck, there are so many things we would like to do for this game! 

But we need your help!

I think it is safe to say that you guys would like to know where we are putting the money you put into this game. Simply put, these are the important things that will keeping this project alive.

Let's be real here, there is alot of risk involved with kickstarters, so we figured that making a demo, letting you get a taste of what we wish to offer would be beneficial for both of us. We want you guys to know what you are getting into before you decided to put forth money, and we genuinely hope you enjoy it as well. We are opening our ears to critique from everybody. We will of course not go with every idea, but we want everyone to feel they have some part to do with the creation of the game. I am not only making this for myself, but for every body. I want you all to love this as much as we do.

We do ask that if you find a bug that needs fixing, please let us know where and when you found it, and how it happened if at all possible, because no project is perfect.

Truth be told, this is something we are both excited and nervous about. We want this to be successful, but we also want this to be loved by many. There has been alot of criticism, which we take into consideration, and alot of praise, which gives us hope. We have many people who tell me that they are excited to play our game, and there is nothing that warms our hearts more than this. We started off as just a simple MegaMan clone, and Magic Miguel, to us has become something more, and we hope that is shows in the final product. You guys mean everything to us, and we couldn't do this without you.

I'll be honest, there is ALWAYS a risk when helping fund a project such as this. We, who are creating this game, are taking this risk as well, so we know all to well.
