The book is funded, thank you, but now we are looking to fund the cover by Gary Chalk (Cost of 825 euros, see the latest project update to learn how you can help)

In the world of Joe Dever's Lone Wolf, the Magnamund, a new hero has arisen - Grey Star the Wizard!
The Forbidden City is the second gamebook in the World of Lone Wolf gamebook series created by Joe Dever and written by Ian Page. It features Grey Star, for whom the first book is named, a young Wizard trained by the enigmatic Shianti to stop the Wytch-King and his Shadakine Empire.
The gameplay of the World of Lone Wolf gamebook series is very much like the other Lone Wolf gamebooks, but features a few key differences. One is the inclusion of Willpower, which can be used for various Magical effects in the game, and maybe most importantly to loose a blast of Magic from your Wizards Staff when it is in your possession. The ability to vanquish some enemies with the expenditure of a Willpower point or two introduces a key strategic consideration in which the reader must choose between the likely loss of Endurance that comes with fighting enemies, and the amount of Willpower that should be saved for later in the story.
The series plays for the most part at the tip of south-eastern Magnamund, in the land then known as the Shadakine Empire. A tyrant called Shasarak the Wytch-King has subjugated the people and with the help of seven Shadaki Wytches is ruling with an iron fist. This second installment of the World of Lone Wolf gamebook series takes place after Grey Star has found the Lost Tribe of Azanam. Grey Star begins his journey with the aid of a Kundi mystic named Urik, and journeys through Desolation Valley, beyond the Mountains of Morn. There, he makes new allies, faces new dangers, and helps to stoke the flames of a fledgling rebellion against the Shadakine Empire, all in a desperate attempt to find the Shadow Gate and travel through it to the Daziarn plane and retrieve the Moonstone of the Shianti.
This new Collector's Edition
More than 30 years later, this gamebook is back with this deluxe, enlarged, hardback Collector's edition by Megara Entertainment we hope to fund on Kickstarter.
A laminated map for Grey Star 2 Collector's Edition has been commissioned as usual to the famous Lone Wolf cartograph Francesco Mattioli. He managed to draw it during this Kickstarter campaign so here it is:
There will be a brand-new bonus adventure as well.
To our pleasure, legendary Lone Wolf illustrator Gary Chalk again agreed to re-illustrate entirely the book with all-new interior drawings and a brand new cover for this Collector's Edition. Unfortunately, that represents a very big art budget (5000 euros) that Megara cannot afford alone. Therefore, we created a Senior Art Producer reward level to finance and unlock Gary's art.
So, to sum up, our deluxe gamebook will have the following features:
- Large book size (same than for our other gamebooks previously published on our webstore or on Kickstarter) : 17 cm x 24.4 cm
- Hardcover 105 gsm interior paper
- Brand new black-and-white interior illustrations by Gary Chalk, including fillers (only if the Senior Art Producer reward level has been taken, otherwise the book will be illustrated by a cheaper artist selected by Megara Entertainment)
- Brand new cover by Gary Chalk (only if the Senior Art Producer reward level has been taken, otherwise the book cover will be designed by a cheaper artist selected by Megara Entertainment)
- All the up-to-date revisions of the gamebook text by Joe Dever, Ian Page, Ben Dever, Vincent Lazarri and his team of experts, included in this ultimate edition.
- A brand-new bonus adventure
Thank you for your support!

Risks and challenges
Megara Entertainment has a solid experience of publishing Collector's hardback gamebooks, with already many released gamebooks and more soon. Therefore the risks are low for this project if we reach our goal.
The production time will go until December 2018, in order for Gary Chalk to produce the art (or another artist if we can't fund Gary, if the Senior Art pledge level hasn't been taken during the campaign) for this Grey Star 2 Collector's Edition and for Megara to double-check the text and gameplay of the gamebook with the son of Joe Dever (since Joe passed away but gave the reigns to his son Ben), Vincent Lazzari and a team of experts, and to complete the layout of this Collector's edition, then manufacture the books and ship them to the backers.
Please note that we have a small staff and we are managing several projects at a time, so we do our best but sometimes a delay can happen. In which case we always try to inform our backers the best we can about our progress anyway!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
