The authors write about open worlds, plus the art meter is filled

Our final week is looking to be very full!  This update will have to start with quite a list. First, please enjoy this essay written by all three authors, Dave Morris, Jamie Thomson and Paul Gresty.  We were invited to talk about open worlds in gaming, and the end result is here:

This website was helpful with our Lone Wolf project, too, and there's some older reading material about gamebooks here:

Back to the present, Paul Gresty has written about his involvement with Fabled Lands on the self-titled blog:

http://fabledlands.blogspot.com/2015/07/half-in-harkuna.html

Note that the image in the latter is a redrawing of Paul for his work in The Frankenstein Wars.

You may have noticed there are many gamebook projects this summer.  Stuart Lloyd, gamebook enthusiast and author, has summarized the whole heap (including our own) right here:

Speaking of other projects, there's one important link to end this list.  It so happens that our cross-promotion partner The Good, the Bad and the Undead has entered soft launch:

He could us your feedback!  Also, be sure to hit the 'Notify me on launch' button to be alerted when the page goes live.

All set with words?  Then let's talk art.

Art meter now filled to the brim

Congratulations to our supportive backers for every pledge, post, or social media mention!  Take a look at this:

Art meter July 29
Art meter July 29

There it is!  We can now afford to commission every piece of art we've promised from Russ Nicholson, not to mention pay Kevin Jenkins a decent fee for his cover painting.  Thank you, many times thank you!  Fabled Lands: The Serpent King's Domain is going to be the best it can be.

As we've said, what extra comes thereafter will go into a sort of 'future plans buffer,' which hopefully will fund future projects.  It will be the first to be spent if we have emergency expenses during fulfillment, so be advised that it isn't a promise; but yes, we too hope that someday we can bring you Fabled Lands: The Lone and Level Sands.

The project is now a staff pick

Hey, like the new spot of green on our project image?

We have been granted the coveted "staff pick" status for the first time since our Arcana Agency project!  Hooray!

For the rest of this week, keep on sharing the word as we go into our big final push!  Every new pledge will only help.  And thank you yet again!

[Richard S. Hetley] Yes, it feels really good to get to this point. Thank you!

Brilliant! Personally I was rather pessimist about the chance of getting full art meter but happily, I am proven wrong. :) Shame about missing out on Starting Character picture but then, I may get a chance in Fabled Lands: The Lone and Level Sands in few years time which is good to know.

Again, it is brilliant that you got to 100% of what you wish from this Kick-starter Campaign :)
