Eighth stretch goal (19k) – Colour printout of the ability card sheets (only for 60 euros or more pledge levels) - Unlocked!

Megara Entertainment, the publisher, will make a colour printout (on a nice quality paper) of the 11 pages featuring the approx. 170 new ability cards for DestinyQuest4 (a previous digital stretch goal, unlocked already).

You will still have to cut the cards yourself, but at least you'll get the card sheets already printed and included in your parcel.

Due to costs issues, Megara is only able to offer that 11 pages colour printout to backers who will have pledged a total of 60 euros or more during this campaign.

Seventh stretch goal (18k) – The 2 quest maps entirely redesigned by the original DestinyQuest illustrator - Unlocked!

We found out that the original DestinyQuest map illustrator, David, is now available to work for us in March and April.

We have enough money, thanks to the great success of this campaign and the unlocking of this stretch goal, to be able to commission David to entirely redesign the 2 DestinyQuest 4 quests maps, so that the continuity of style in the series is preserved in that new DestinyQuest 4 gamebook.

We will make prints of the new A4 hero sheet in colour, on a nice quality paper, and include one printed colour hero sheet with every book pledged for.

Fifth stretch goal (16k) – Exclusive Legendary loot card, printed for all the backers - Unlocked!

All backers will receive a special commemorative printed loot card, in their parcel together with their gamebook.

This applies to any version of the book including the hardcover. For instance, if you pledged for the softcover AND hardcover edition, you'll receive two copies of that printed exclusive loot card.

As with all loot cards, this features a special unique item (Legendary) that does not feature in the book and that will remain exclusive to this campaign.

In this instance, we have a magical compass that has somehow found its way into the belly of a rather large and bad-tempered sand whale!

The completed image of the loot card has been disclosed to the backers of this campaign in update #31.


Fourth stretch goal (15k) – 2 DestinyQuest Exclusive backing tracks (digital) - Unlocked!

It’s time to take your gamebook immersion to a whole new level with two exclusive backing tracks, specially written to coincide with the themes and environments of Book Four. There will be two tracks – one for each act of the story. The talented duo responsible for this exciting addition to the Kickstarter are Ben Van Gastel and Antal Nusselder – both big DestinyQuest fans who have combined their passion for music and gaming to create two ambient tracks that will add an exciting atmosphere to your quests and dungeon delving! Ben is working on the Act 1 theme which will have a ‘wild west/frontier-style’ approach – and Antal is composing an Arabian/Egyptian-inspired piece to accompany Act 2. If we reach 15K then all backers will receive the tracks as digital audio files. Samples of both compositions will be posted soon!

Third stretch goal (14k) – Full-colour hero sheet/play mat (PDF) - Unlocked!

Thanks to the recently added loot card sets, we have smashed through the second stretch goal – giving all backers an exclusive digital set of 130 ability cards for use on your adventures across the Dune Sea.

The ability cards are great, but how about we pair them up with something extra special – a full colour hero sheet/play mat that you can use to record your hero’s important details as well as help you organize and keep track of your ability cards.

This specially redesigned hero sheet will have spaces for all the essential information that you would need on your questing – there is room to track your equipment, backpack items, health and money – as well as the new augments that can be purchased on your adventure.

This exclusive hero sheet will be made available to all backers and will be supplied as a digital PDF.

New! Add-ons

Fans have been asking for these since the start of the campaign, so at last we are proud to unveil (fresh from the timeless sands of the Dune Sea…) three exclusive loot card packs.

Each pack features a printed set of loot cards, which were previously released for the first three books in the series – but now brought up to date with a new, fresh epic design! Also, these loot cards will be printed by Megara Entertainment with larger dimensions than the previous print run, years ago!

The Shadow Set (to add these printed loot cards with the new design to your rewards, manually add 12 euros to your pledge level) contains six powerful treasures to help you take you on the might of The Legion of Shadow.

The Fire Set (to add these printed loot cards with the new design to your rewards, manually add 12 euros to your pledge level) features six rare and equippable items to ensure your journey through The Heart of Fire is as legendary as it is memorable.

 The Fury Set (to add these printed loot cards with the new design to your rewards, manually add 12 euros to your pledge level) contains the three rare treasures that were released for The Eye of Winter’s Fury as well as an exclusive set of cards for The Legion of Shadow, based on a promotional collection of items that were only previously available as bookmarks.

For instance, if you pledged for just the book (softcover) for 25 euros, and if you want to add the three sets to your pledge level, you will have to manually change your pledge level to 25 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 61 euros (shipping included).

Second stretch goal (13k): Ability Cards (PDF) - Unlocked!

All Kickstarter backers will be given a digital set of Ability Cards for use on their adventure. These cards will include all 130+ abilities that appear in Book Four to help you manage your hero in combat. These will be provided as a set of colour PDFs, with printing guidelines.

When you learn an ability, you can simply select the relevant card from the deck. These can then be displayed next to your hero sheet – to help you keep a track of what abilities you have learned, and which ones you have available to you in combat.

During combat, you could place a counter on a card to show that an ability has been used or simply flip it over. In this way, you will always know what abilities you have used and which ones you have left. There’s nothing worse than losing a combat then suddenly remembering that all-important ability you forgot to use!

First stretch goal (12k) - Unlocked!


Exclusive Dungeon Delve quest for Kickstarter backers.

This extra adventure will be provided as a PDF for all backers, but also will be featured in the print version of the larger HARDCOVER edition of DQ4 (but not in the softcover edition due to print constraints).

What is DestinyQuest?


DestinyQuest is a new style of gamebook that draws on modern fantasy action games such as World of Warcraft and Diablo, and fuses them with the old-style ‘choose your own adventure’ books of the 80s.

In DestinyQuest, readers use an innovative map system to experience exciting quests, battle fearsome monsters and discover valuable rewards.

Throughout their adventure, the reader can customize their hero from hundreds of collectable items and special abilities, allowing them to take on ever-greater challenges as they seek to build their hero from a starting newbie to a legendary champion.

How do I play?

All you need to play DestinyQuest is a copy of the book, a handful of six-sided dice, a pencil and some paper – then you are ready to embark on an epic narrative adventure where you are the hero. You get to make the decisions for your hero, deciding where they will go, what they will do, and how they will react to the myriad of challenging dilemmas that will be set before them. Book Four of DestinyQuest pushes these choices even further, ensuring that no two adventures will ever be the same.

Do I need to have read the other books?

No. Every DestinyQuest book is written as a standalone adventure, but together they create an ongoing narrative that tells a larger story. While readers will always benefit from having experienced the other adventures in the series, it is not essential that you have any prior knowledge of the characters and game world. If you want to take your first plunge into DestinyQuest with Book Four, then there’s nothing to hold you back. Grab your sword and backpack, and get ready for an exciting ride!

Healing magics will purge poisons and keep you in the fight, whilst all-new warp abilities will have you teleporting across the battlefield, leaving opponents confused and off guard while you deliver punishing sneak attacks.

All new epic loot cards!

Level up your hero with Kickstarter-exclusive loot cards. Each card features a unique item of equipment that does not appear in the book.

Once you meet the criteria for the reward (such as learning a new career) you can immediately equip this special weapon or piece of armour. Loot cards feature powerful items, often with unique powers or attribute bonuses, to give you that vital edge in combat!

Greater tactics

Your own personal vault will now allow you to store the weapons and items you collect on your quests. These can all be accessed at a moment’s notice, allowing you to change your hero on the fly. The monsters and enemies of the Dune Sea have many immunities and resistances, therefore choosing your equipment for each encounter is now more crucial than ever to secure success. However, your vault is not limitless in space, so you will have to make careful decisions over what you choose to keep and what gets thrown away!

More choices

You take control of your adventure, choosing who you will ally with, who you will thwart and those who you will turn into bitter adversaries. Earn reputation as you join one of the many factions that scheme and battle across the Dune Sea. Your loyalty may earn you special rewards and loot, as well as opportunities to embark on secret side missions. Uncover relics and lost magics from the ruins, tombs and pyramids, then take them to market, negotiating deals with wealthy collectors or bartering in the bazaars for items that will boost your powers. Every quest will present you with hard choices to make – and some may come with fateful consequences…

 

Risks and challenges

Megara Entertainment has a solid experience of publishing gamebooks, with already many released gamebooks (check out our webstore at www.megara-entertainment.com) and more soon. Therefore the risks are low for this project if we reach our goal.

However, please note that we are a small staff, managing several projects at a time. We always try to do our best but sometimes a delay can happen. In which case we usually inform our backers the best we can about our progress.
