About this project
Important update: Video is two months old. We will not be necessarily opening in October, but most likely in Nov or early Dec.
The Project: Gather a community.
This past year, viewer stats posted for Major League Gaming (MLG) has surpassed viewers of Major league Baseball (MLB) on ESPN. Millions of people play videogames and many of those millions are over the drinking age. By acting as a venue for video game events while supplying high quality adult beverages, Headshots Gamers Bar will act as a beacon for which lovers of alcohol and video games can gather.
The Product: Develop a Venue
Imagine a place where you can go to play your favorite games, with your favorite people, while drinking your favorite beer. Headshots will be a place for all adult gamers to join in this dream. Over four thousand permanent square feet of this dream is possible through Kickstarter. We want to have several "free to play" cabinets set up with multiple video game consoles attached. We want to be the #1 host in town for competitive and casual video game play. Not only do we want to stream Major League Gaming events at our venue but also be a host for other local video game enthusiast talents such as music and film.
I want to live this dream everyday, and I want you to be there.
About the Owner
Born and raised in Wichita, Ryan Christopher Revard is a Wichita State University graduate with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a Mixology degree from the Professional Bartending School of America in Kansas City MO, and who has over 8 years of management experience. A few local projects I've been involved in include Midwest Winefest, Oeno Wine Bar, Luca Italian Kitchen, Press Wine and Cocktails, and Somerset Ridge Vineyard and Winery. Mr. Revard will work full time as owner/operator, responsible for running the business, sales, and buying. He will also be making a personal investment of $35,000 to the company start up and pouring ones heart and soul into the sustainability of the venue. I also play a ton of video games.
The Swag: T-Shirts, Product Placement, & Dinners with me.
The most difficult part of opening a venue is generating the upfront capital required to purchase equipment and complete building renovations. We are asking for $40,000 to help start this dream. We are going to use some ingenuity, and a bit of craftiness to stretch these dollars to the maximum potential. Even though we are asking for a substantial sum, it is still only enough to get us off the ground. The more we raise upfront, the more money we can invest into additional parts of the business. Raising over our goal would allow us to put more money into funding additional video game cabinets, expand the beverage selections, and allow for a kitchen. So even if we've met our goal, know that further donations will help get this project off on two sturdy legs.
If you are a microbrew or another Midwest beer, wine, or spirit company and would like to support us in a way that is mutually beneficial we have options for you! Put your product in our venue. If you think that video game enthusiast adults would like your products, then we like you too. Email me if there are any questions.
Check out the pledge rewards at the right. You can also get cool stuff. Like T-shirts.
There was a homeless man that asked me for money once. I said to myself, "No way, he is just going to spend it on alcohol and video games." But then I realized that was exactly what I was going to spend my money on. Maybe that isn't exactly how that joke goes.
Kickstarter is primarily to fund building renovations. Downtown Wichita's buildings are over one hundred years old and many were once factories. Now they are restaurants, hotels, clubs, and other drinking establishments (One of the locations we had considered leasing still had a semi-functioning grain elevator). Foremost, we want to make sure the building is up to all modern safety standards. We want to build new restaurant coolers, modernize the bar, and make both restrooms handicap accessible.'
With the completion of this kickstarter's funding, we will have enough capital to completely renovate our Headshots building and create the greatest place on Earth. (The name "DisneyWorld" was already taken)
Check out the right side of this page for a list of the rewards I’m offering in return for pledges. In order to make this dream come true, I’ll need to raise at least $40,000 by the end of November. Money raised over the goal will still go straight into the bar. It will give possibilities for a larger venue and the option to add vent hoods for a full kitchen to create video game themed food.
Make it Happen
1. CREATE a Kickstarter account: all it takes is an email address.
2. SIGN IN at Amazon.com - if you already have an account, you're all set. If not it only takes a moment.
3. PLEDGE what you are comfortable giving. We appreciate every dollar. If you find yourself wanting to help but unable to donate you can skip to the next step to help us spread the word. Your card will only be charged should we reach our full goal.
4. SHARE this with your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and whoever else crosses your path! Let everyone know you are a backer for Headshots Videogame Lounge and Cocktail Bar.
Thank you all for all the time and consideration you have given this idea.
We are going to be located in the Wichita Kansas Oldtown, the heart of the city.
Currently we are banking on 201 North St. Francis. 1 block from the Oldtown Warren and 1 block from the Intrust Bank Arena.
We have three separate, very talented, Realtors doing their absolute best to find the ideal location for the bar.
I currently play a lot of League of Legends. I love the community of friends I have circled around the game. I'm also a huge LOZ fan.
Sports Bar stream sports games. A video game bar should stream video games. Most definitely.
No. We will however have free-to-play console games set up of all kinds.
