The funds raised from Kickstarter will be used toward product development and market research (aka: samples of new creations in exchange for honest feedback), website maintenance, ingredients (in bulk), help cover the cost of the shared kitchen space, labels and packaging, marketing to specialty grocers and boutique dessert shops as well as increasing our online ecommerce presence. Newer equipment, such as a large Excalibur dehydrator and 14 cup food processor, are on the short list of next purchases as well.
Risks and challenges
V.Sweet is my full time job and, while it has been in the works for a little more than a year, we have faced our share of challenges already, but now that we have all the licensing and legalities out of the way, it is a matter of getting into people's homes! I foresee the relationship building and marketing of our product being a key factor in the success of V.Sweet desserts, and if I'm allowed to quote Martin Luther King Jr. here: "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." I stand by the V.Sweet culture and product and I know once you try it, you will too.
Another possible challenge could arise if there were more orders than I was able to fill efficiently and timely, but I have several "pending" employees willing to help (in the form of friends and family) if that should happen.
