After our Kickstarter ended, it took two weeks to revamp the exterior and the interior of the Rex with the help of local carpenters, painters and volunteers. Here are some photos I took of the process:

Over the past month, Save the Rex! received some great press from around the world including:

By the end of 2013, we were working hard on revamping the Rex Cinema! This year, we are planning programming to keep the Rex Cinema sustainable and alive! One of our upcoming projects is hosting the Accra Francophone Film Festival in partnership up with Institut Francais in late March.

Starting next week, we are working with local architects and contractors to provide running water in the building for the bathrooms; fixing the roof to stop leakage when it rains; and building a popcorn and drink stand for future events. Our goal is to be fully staffed and running full time as a creative space by June. :)

We recently created a Rex Cinema Accra Twitter and Facebook page so please spread the word and keep in touch!

We are preparing all of your lovely Kickstarter perks for supporting our campaign. Please be on the look out for another update soon for your mailing address!

I cannot thank you enough for supporting the Save the Rex Initiative!

With Love,

Akosua Adoma Owusu
