Hello guys! Firstly huge thanks for checking out my project, I hope you enjoy reading about my project and look forward to any support you can offer me on my campaign.

I have here today a selection of miniatures and a dice tower available in an exclusive for Kickstarter bundle for home or local service printing, all project rewards are licences to produce miniatures from my digital files (.STL) and not physical rewards.

About the miniatures

The mini's are themed around the world I am building for Throne Down Games.

This first stop take use to Arborea, a region dense with verdant woods and forests, home to the Throne of Life guarded by the Dragon Tenagara and ruled over by Dryad, one of the four celestial beings born of the planets subconscious will. **Lore will be available in the near future for those who are interested**

I have sculpted a selection of 6 monsterous inhabitants for Arborea along with Tenagara's draconic head dice tower - in part to pilot interest in my style of works and assist in the direction there after.

All miniatures have been maticulously sculpted over many, many hours (Tenagara alone ran into over 100 hours) all the miniatures have been designed to print with minimal or no supports, in most cases this means the models are split to some degree and will require some post print assembly. I set out to create a balance of aestetics and ease of printability which I hope I have achieved and you will enjoy my models as such!

My miniatures are designed to be printed as support free as possible, I have sucessfully printed all models without any support what so ever on a cheap stock FDM printer (details further down) with the exception of Tenagara's forearms and the Kirin's chin which required some slicer support generation from the build plate.

All files are pre orientated in Cura and flush with the build plate for ease of setup, just import, slice and your away!

**Important note about printing without supports**

Anybody who has home printed before will be acutely aware of this but I'll put it here for those who are quite new or looking to print for the first time;

FDM printing can be tricky to get the best results, many variables exist in obtaining the best print possible - every effort has been made to make the models as print friendly as possible however, how you have your machine set up will play an important role in the end result.

Some important factors that can influence your print:

1. Machine build quality

2. Print bed levelling and adhesion

3. Filament quality

4. Slicer settings

If in doubt, generating supports at 60'> touching the build plate should adequetly support the models without a mass of support structure, *supporting from the build plate opposed to "everywhere" makes supports SO much easier to remove.

If you find yourself really struggling then I will do my upmost to help you find a solution, I have included my own print setup and various printing resources further down the page which you may find useful.

The campaign goal

My campaign is aiming to raise funds to delve deeper into miniature production, funding will primarily go towards upgrading my PC to better handle constant heavy useage, investment in a resin printer to be able to test print in resin and help with consumeables such as printing filament for testing and unhealthy ammounts of caffiene based products.

Project delivery

All digital files featured in this project are distribution ready, following a sucessful funding period it will take around 2 weeks for funds to clear at which point files will be promptly delivered by secure link to all backers.

Test prints

The models have undergone extensive test printing throughout their design with all undergoing tweaks and resculpts several times during this process until I was happy with the balance of aesthetics and printability, please see the next section for my test printing setup.

Below are a couple of pictures of some of the undercoated prints and a quick paint and basing job after, I will upload further test print photos in an update so as to not overwhelm the main page.

Printer setup and resources

Here I'll just go over briefly what my print setup is and my experience with the printing.

Printer

My printer is an affordable (£ 259.00 - amazon UK) FDM printer by Anycubic, the i3 Mega, all test prints have been completed on this machine right out the box without any mods or upgrades, in my opinion this is a cracking little machine and I'm genuinely impressed with the prints it has been producing.

I did a lot of research before buying my printer, the machine is in the same ballpark as the very popular Creality Ender 3 all be it slighty more expensive, for me when purchasing the machine it literally came down to 8 screws versus a complete build, the i3 Mega won me over on this key point and I was happy to pay a bit extra to be printing 20 minutes out the box.

Filament

The filament I've been using is 1.75mm eSun PLA+ Grey at a layer height of 0.08.

The filament specifications give a print temp of 205-225 degrees, after a lot of tinkering I have actually been printing with this filament at 190 degrees, I personally found higher temps produced much more stringing and less clarity in details.

Slicer Settings and resources

This is a tricky one to get right in order to squeeze every ounce of quality out of FDM printers. With the download I will include my Cura profile for the i3 Mega which I have used for test printing, I can't guarentee this is the best profile but it's produced decent prints so I'll roll with it for now until I have free time to tweak, feel free to use this too.

Below are a few really good guides for 3D printing miniatures and general 3D printing tips and tricks, well worth checking out - the effort these guys have put into their productions has 100% helped me print better so many thanks to them!

Post Print Processing

As I printed without supports the post processing was straight forward, using a cheap modelling file set (the circular file is especially useful I found) and 400 grit sandpaper I gave the surfaces a quick sanding and importantly around the keys to ensure a nice fit, I found my bottom layers had slight expansion which is typical of FDM prints, this was tided up quickly with a sharp knife and flat file.

Licences and legals

All digital content featured in this campaign including images and documents remain the exclusive property of Throne Down Games, by backing this project you will be rewarded with one of the two types of licences on offer as outlined below in order to create physically printed models from the STL files.

Basic licence

The basic licence allows you to print the STL files for personal use.

You may;

Print as many copies for your own personal use as you wish

Print copies for immediate friends, family and gaming group

Modify the files to suit your personal needs

You may not;

Sell your prints

Sell prints derived from Throne Down Games's digital content

Sell or distribute in any fashion, any of Throne Down Games's digital content

Sell or distribute in any fashion, any works derived from Throne Down Games digital content as digital content

Limited commercial use licence

The limited commercial use licence allows you to print the STL files for personal and limited commercial use.

You may;

Print as many copies for your own personal use as you wish

Print copies for immediate friends, family and gaming group

Modify the files to suit your personal needs

Sell physically printed copies from the STL files

Sell physically printed copies of derived works from the STL files

You may not;

Sell or distribute in any fashion, any of Throne Down Games's digital content

Sell or distribute in any fashion, any works derived from Throne Down Games's digital content as digital content

**note on the commercial licence,

After a lot of deliberation I have decided to allow the modification of the files - commonly known as derived works.

I have also decided to allow the sale of prints from these derived works to give you more freedom in selling, this is an extremely powerful part of the licence which will essentially allow you to create something entirely new and saleable from the existing files, however, this is strictly for physical prints and the sale of digital content derived from Throne Down Games's digital property is strictly prohibited.

In addition, the licence is perpetual, once the licence is delivered you will have the rights to the use the files as outlined above for an indefinate period of time.

If you have any questions or require more clarity on this decision please drop me a line and we can discuss it further.

Risks and challenges

I am confident the models included in this project are a mix of great quality and ease of printability. All files have undergone rigerous print trials before being signed off as ready.

In this project I have included guidance on printing your own models at home from my files and outlined my personal experience with the mini's and the equipment I have been using to help manage the risk of running into problems printing.

Should something have slipped through my own testing I will endeavour to fix any problem asap.

Should you require any additional help I will always be knocking about to give you some pointers.

All the best guys!
