Set in the year 1870 of Jules Verne’s classic novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, assume the role and motive of Captain Nemo and set sail in his amazing electric-powered submarine, the Nautilus

Nemo’s War: Second Edition is a single-player board game of underwater exploration and combat. You will search the oceans, combat vessels of all nations, brave the hazards of the seas, find mysterious treasures, behold and chronicle amazing wonders, and travel around the world in your quest for knowledge and vengeance.

This second edition of Victory Point Games' popular solitaire game from designer Chris Taylor is a greatly enhanced offering, featuring mass-production printing and amazing Ian O'Toole art and graphics throughout.

  • Decision-rich, narrative-enhanced solitaire gameplay
  • Four Nemo “Motive” objectives, three levels of difficulty, plus other gameplay options
  • Channel your “inner-Nemo” in an immersive strategy role-playing experience
  • Great references and quotations from 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas by Jules Verne throughout

You can take a look at the Nemo's War: Second Edition Rulebook here! NOTE: This is a beta version of the book. The rules themselves are final; we are wrapping up layout and final corrections.

Nemo’s four different motives determine the type of adventure you shall have, and rewards you accordingly by varying the victory points awarded for the game's different tasks. Your motive also determines how much notoriety you can gain before being defeated as an international pariah.

Adventure cards come in three basic varieties: PLAY, which are immediate occurrences that you must deal with; KEEP, which are opportunities for you to take advantage of later, if you desire; and TEST, which are obstacles and adventures that you must overcome – gaining their reward or suffering the penalty for failure.

Nautilus Upgrade cards represent different ways that you can customize the Nautilus on its voyage. These are available for purchase by spending the salvaged remains of ships you have bested in combat at sea. Depending on Nemo’s motive for the game, some of these upgrades can be particularly useful in your quest!

The Character resources aboard your ship are worth considerable points, but sacrificing them to reverse an emergency situation might be a better strategy. Each of these supporting heroes can play their part only once, so carefully consider that before asking them to make their ultimate sacrifice.

The Ship tokens are each individually illustrated and represent historical ships at sea during the Age of Nemo (with a few interesting inclusions pictured here). Their attack and defense values are the large numbers flanking their names. Sending most of them to Davy Jones' Locker will increase your notoriety, but their yield in victory points and useful salvage for upgrades makes every ship at sea a target.

In addition, everyone who pledges for one or more copies of Nemo's War: Second Edition will also receive an enamel pin, exclusive to Kickstarter!

Each stretch goal that is unlocked beyond our initial funding goal will be included with all pledges that include a copy of Nemo's War: Second Edition.

By pledging to this Kickstarter, you will be receiving a $19 discount on Nemos War: Second Edition. Everyone is an Early Bird!

For everyone who has pledged to a tier that includes one or more copies of Nemo's War: Second Edition, a dice tower add-on is available to you! Simply follow these instructions:

1) Press the Manage Your Pledge button above. If you have not pledged yet, it will say Back This Project.

2) Increase your pledge in the Pledge Amount box by the total amount for the add-on. Example: If you want to add one set of laser-cut counters, you would increase your pledge by $25 (Plus $5 if international).

3) Save the pledge amount. Do not change the tier you originally pledged at.

4) After the Kickstarter is successfully funded, we will be sending out a survey to confirm your pledge. In that survey, make sure to specify which add-ons you added to your pledge. In addition, you can send us a message to confirm which add-on(s) you included in your pledge.

To include a Nemo's War Dice Tower, add $12 per tower. The Dice Tower dimensions are 2 1/4" x 5 3/4" x 4 3/4". (More pictures of the dice tower here)

For our fans that enjoy our custom, sooty, laser-cut counters, you can include them with your game order (along with your die-cut counters included in the game!).They are the same thickness as the die-cut counters and made with similar material but the laser-cut counters keep the raised edge. Add $25 to your pledge if you are in the US or Canada. For International backers, add an additional $5 for shipping costs.

If you like the look and feel of the art created by Ian O'Toole, these 12" x 16" posters make for a great addition. You can add as many posters as you like to your pledge. (Shipped folded in half.)

To include a poster, add $10 per poster to your pledge if you are in the US or Canada. For International backers, add an additional $4 for shipping costs.

Each game comes with a 1.5" Kickstarter exclusive enamel pin for backers of this campaign. This add-on is for those who want to purchase extra pins for collecting or just want to support the Kickstarter and get an awesome pin.

To include an extra pin, add $9 per pin to your pledge. If your pledge does not include a game, please add an additional $4 for shipping costs.

There are consistently games in development that we fall head-over-heels for at VPG, and Nemo's War: Second Edition is absolutely one of those games. With rich narrative driven gameplay and stunning visuals from Ian O'Toole, we feel that this game deserves the Victory Point Games Premier Line treatment. In order to do that, we have to utilize an out of house printer for this project. The physical prototype for Dawn of the Zeds: Third Edition has proven to be high quality, and we want the same thing for Nemo's War: Second Edition.

We are working with Ship Naked to get the best possible shipping rates for everyone. Essentially, this is done through shipping zones. The shipping zone that you live in determines how much shipping you will pay. This is much cheaper for you than if we were to ship everything from our office in Costa Mesa, CA, and allows us to provide discounts that we wouldn’t be able to provide otherwise.

Here are the shipping rates for Nemo's War: Second Edition:

All sales are final. Victory Point Games is working with ShipNaked, who will handle all claims for damaged packages/goods to backers.

Bulk Orders

Anyone who would like to place a bulk order, such as retailers or distributors, should contact us directly at distribution[at]victorypointgames[dot]com or through Kickstarter and we will be happy to work with you to get you set up with whatever you need.

Special Thanks!

If it wasn't for the following people, Nemo's War: Second Edition wouldn't be where it is today. THANK YOU!

Chris Taylor, Ian Wakeham, Wes Erni, Mo Mozzone, Ian O'Toole, and Lines Hutter.

Risks and challenges

Due to the nature of out-of-house printing, it can be difficult to pinpoint a time when a finished project will be printed and delivered to you. Between file submissions and corrections, physical proof edits, to shipping from the printer to fulfillment (the list goes on), there are plenty of possibilities that could arise to delay our initial delivery date estimate. We have learned quite a bit from our previous Kickstarters, which should keep delays to a minimum.
