The Pirate Kittens have vowed to capture Barracuda. Will they succeed? Join the crew to find out.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sat, November 17 2018 6:59 PM UTC +00:00.
We are delighted to bring The Pirate Cats - Saga of the Kittens Issue 2 back to Kickstarter.
The Pirate Cats takes place in an alternate universe where animals have decided to leave normal life and become pirates.
The Pirate Kittens, Zed, Jay and Tee were being taught how to become Pirate Cats by Horatio 'The Mouse' Hunter on board his ship The Retribution. After the evil Barracuda attacked the kittens home town of Shaywynn, including an attack on their parents, Horatio decided that discretion was the better part of valour and gave the command to leave the area and never come back.
The kittens, upon hearing this command, disagreed with their Captain and decided to not only find Barracuda but to bring him to justice for the crimes that he'd committed.
After stealing one of Horatio's ship (well they are pirates) they found the cave in which Barracuda was supposed to be hiding. However, they found that it was empty except for a few gold coins on the floor. Jay, wanting to be a Captain one day and needed funds for her own ship, picked them up and WHOOSH they were flung upwards in a net.
Trapped like fish in a barrel, Issue 2 begins with the kittens in the same net with a dashing and charismatic pirate having just entered the cave taking control.
Below we have the first 10 pages of issue 2 for you, so grab a cup of tea/coffee or a glass of water and give it a read.
Following a very successful campaign in April and May of this year to fund the production costs of issue 1, we're back looking to raise funds to cover the cost of the artwork and printing of the second issue of The Pirate Cats.
As an all ages comic, The Pirate Cats appeals to young and old alike. It has taken me 40 years to write this comic based on an idea I had well over a decade ago.
The Pirate Cats was initially aimed at my younger cousins who have often struggled with believing in themselves. However I soon realised that I was also writing for myself. Instead of dreaming that I would become a writer in the future, I has to do it now. I had to make an effort.
And this is the story I'm telling through The Pirate Cats. Believe in yourself, do what you love and make an effort.
Every backer, both physical and digital, of issue 2 will be invited to have their name inscribed for all time on the 'Thank You' page of the comic.
As an added bonus, for every 10 backers we get, either a page or a panel of issue 1 or 2 will be unlocked and included as a colouring page. If we get 100 backers, that's 10 free colouring in panels/pages for you. Each backer also gets the blueprints for the four fantastic paper toys/sculptures.
Owen Edmonds tells a fantastic and captivating tale, with Andrew Pawley’s beautiful art keeping the reader’s eyes glued to the page.
Cannot recommend this book enough!"
Every backer will get the designs for these paper toys/statues.
Risks and challenges
As someone who has backed well over 100 projects, I have experienced the best and worst Kickstarter can offer.
The risks we face come from things that we cannot control.
The story has been written.
The artwork will be completed during the campaign
The printer, Stuart from Citrus Designs, worked with us on perfecting issue 1 and he knows our requirements.
The rewards have been designed, priced and come from reputable companies that we've used before.
On Issue 1, we not only fulfilled all pledges within the timeframe set out, we exceeded some of them.
Myself and Andrew are fully committed to The Pirate Cats, so you can back knowing that unless we're hit by a meteorite or something similar, we will fulfil everything we say.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
