What is Twist?
Twist is a ultra-portable universal adapter designed to work with the MacBook adapter. It offers much more functions than the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit and makes charging your mobile devices much easier. Some of its functions include, 4 USB ports for charging, universal outlet and the intuitive twist-to-change adapter type design.
Origin of the Idea
Like many of you, we frequently travel both for work and for pleasure and we often have problems keeping all our devices + the MacBook charged because we could never find enough sockets or the right adapter plug when most needed. During recent trip to London, it got so bad that we had to charge using a socket in the lobby in addition to ones in our rooms. We started looking for an adapter that works anywhere in the world, has plenty USB ports for charging and fits a MacBook adapter. We couldn’t find anything on the market and thus the idea for Twist was born.
Why we called it Twist
We wanted to create a design that includes all the above features, while being compact and intuitive to use. After much trial and error, we found that a round design was the best way to achieve a compact and robust structure. We encountered many difficult challenges to create a universal adapter that can be turned, which is also compact and reliable. Twist went through 2 generations of design revision before we settled on a design that we like.
Different Types of Twist
Twist will come in 4 different flavors. Twist Plus types can be used with MacBook adapter while Twist works as standalone.
Plus means ability to connect directly to MacBook Adapter
*Universal outlet means ability for other adapter to plug in to Twist Plus World Adapt.
Twist reduces the clutter in your luggage by combining a universal adapter and USB charging port to fit a MacBook. Not only you can now have more space for other items, but you are less likely to forget to bring the right adapter as you have everything in one single device.
This is what you may need to bring on a trip.
Twist replaces everything in the picture above and give you a a much simpler way to travel. Less to bring means less likely you will forget something and more room for other items.
Plenty of ports and power
We' all have the experience of too many devices and not enough chargers. With a 20W 4 Amp and 4 USB ports, Twist has plenty of power to charge multiple device quickly. This is important as you don’t have to wait to finish charging one device before charging another and you can finish charging quicker.
We started developing Twist in February and created the first generation of Twist around May. It was a pass-through design that was not as useful and it only had only one port. We felt we could make Twist smaller and better. After 4 months, we were able to redesign Twist’s build, which resulted in reduced size and more USB ports and higher power output.
If we reaching 50K, then we will include 2 high quality flat USB cable for fast and tangle free charging for every Twist.
If we hit 75K, then we will also throw in an easy-to-carry porch specially designed with the cables for each Twist.
Why we need your help?
The redesign took more time and capital than we anticipated but we felt it was a necessary step to make Twist better. The Twist design is all finished and is undergoing final testing. When that happens, Twist will be ready for small batch production and then mass production. However, we cannot go to mass production yet because we need your pledge to get the first batch of production going and get the cost down from our supplier.

Risks and challenges
The design has been done and went through 2 generations of updates with several prototypes built. We are in the process of getting the injection mold finished and getting ready for small batch production. The risk is that the injection mold process takes longer than we like and may need some revisions, but the primary design and testing are already done. We have functional prototypes on hand and will provide more updates as we go. The other risk is that we can’t get enough funding to get it produced efficiently and cost effectively and we may have to take a loss ourselves, but that is the inherent risk of a KickStarter project.
In addition, we cannot know custom laws of every country, we will do our best to send the package as you indicated but we cannot be responsible for custom delay, tax, duty or any liability stem from your country's custom process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
