About this project
Why We're Doing This?
And like the best things in life... Squid will be FREE !!!
We all have talents and skills that make us extraordinary individuals. With this idea in mind, our team decided to make a place where people could explore and discover their talents while sharing what they care about. What we came up with is Squid, a social application that is designed to help people with similar interests connect and pursue their hobbies together. Squid will be filled with people learning and sharing the things they are passionate about.
One of the key features is the ability to set and complete challenges relevant to your hobbies. We want people to constantly be reaching new levels with their work, that's why we have developed a variety of goals for each activity. You can also invent and add your own challenges making your achievements totally customizable to your goals. The more challenges you complete, the more content you'll unlock.
Our hobbies and passions extend beyond the limitations of culture, geography, and economic status. They can bring people together all over the world. That is our goal with Squid and why we are so passionate about making it a reality. Please donate today and tell us what hobby (or hobbies) you would share with Squid!
Squid app was made with three concepts in mind:
1. Make it easy and exciting to explore and try new things.
2. Give people the proper tools to reach their goals.
3. Create a community of collaborative hobbyists.
Where we are:
Over months of planning, field research, and development we have created Squid to be a simple and easy to use app that lets you explore your hobbies. Our team has already successfully launched two different prototypes. We have learned from our failures and been able to find out what works and what doesn’t. After asking hundreds of hobbyists for their input and to test out our prototypes, we are ready to bring you Squid. Our designs are ready and we are starting development at the moment.
Squids are very unique and some of the most intelligent creatures in the animal kingdom. Like their relatives the Octopus and the Cuttlefish they change colors in order to communicate; yet Squids are color blind. Like hobbyists Squids are extremely fast learners. They teach each other how to hunt and defend themselves in packs. They adapt extremely quickly to their environments and are highly social animals.
iOS vs Android
Our Squid team will make Squid available on both Android and iOS platforms by December 2014, but due to our lack of funds we cannot develop both platforms at the same time. This is why Backers will have the choice of supporting Squid to either Android or iOS platform. Once we reach our funding goal whichever platform has the most donations we will begin developing first. Once we successfully complete and launch Squid on the winning platform, we will continue to work and start developing the other platform.
Where the money goes
Making an awesome project like Squid app doesn’t come to life only with great people, but with some money too. Developing an application is a costly matter; we will invest our money in web servers, video-streaming bandwidth, hosting, designing, programming software. All of these costs add up quite quickly and that is why we need your support.
Squid Membership cards
With the Squid membership cards you will get early access to the application as beta users or early adopters. Depending on your pledging level, you will get early access to the application at different stages of our development. For example, Backers that pledge at the “Pro member” level will get to use Squid before Backers at the “Apprentice member” level.
*All of the above excludes the membership cards.
Thank you all for your support! SPREAD THE WORD!!!
Risks and challenges
We have such an amazing team of developers, designers and business people that are working extremely hard to bring Squid to life. There are several challenges our team may face when developing Squid, including: unexpected bugs in the code, delay in approval of Squid when submitted to Google Play or App Store, and the lack of funding being our biggest challenge and risk.
We are ready to help all of you achieve greatness and discover your talents. Are you?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
