We are humbled by the overwhelming interest in this project. There are only hours left in our campaign. We feel so fortunate to reach our minimum funding goal, wow!
You can still get involved. When you make a contribution beyond our initial goal, you are making a bigger difference, to not just us, but to the glass community as a whole. Don't miss our video above, or our story below. Consider the rewards we offer... Then, help us reach our new stretch goals to make this shop operational in no time.
NEW REWARDS ADDED (see below): Salmon Glasses, Nautilus Flip-Cap Bottle, and Humpback Whale Flip-Cap Bottle. Also a 2nd Hot Glass Workshop and Glass Marbles by budding artist Wren.
If all of our new 5 rewards find their homes, we will reach our stretch goal of $125,000. This amount would take us to the next level of our careers. It would also move the careers of other glass artists who will be interning with us or attending our classes. We invite you to be a part of this project! This is a one time deal, and we assure you, we are not going to ask for help like this ever again. This is it, folks. Thank you.
ITS GOOD TO MEET YOU: See our 3-minute video and you'll feel the love! We are Pacific Northwest glass artists Kelly O'Dell and Raven Skyriver, and our seven year-old son, Wren. We are professional glass artists who create sculptures inspired by marine life, species endangerment, extinction, and conservation. We exhibit our work in museums and galleries across the world. We are passionate about using our work to raise consciousness in viewers about the need for preservation of natural spaces, and species conservation. We're now asking you for assistance to build our own glass studio where we can deepen our practice, give back to our community, and nurture our family.
OUR PROJECT: See the short video above. We are building a professional glass studio at our home in rural Washington. This project came from a vital need: to have more time together. (AND about 10,000 fewer miles traveled on the freeway every year). We are moving to the island where Raven was born and raised to allow our son to grow up surrounded by his grandparents and extended family, but the island has no glass studio available for our use. So, we're building one, from the ground up, with the support of our friends and family. Even Wren is helping! We are almost half-way done with the studio. We have accomplished our minimum goal of $65,000 to get the building done. We can now focus on our post-goal campaign, to raise enough funding for our remaining wish-list equipment.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN? When you back our project beyond our initial goal, know that you will make a positive and lasting impact on our family, and on the glass community. Aside from creating our own work, this studio represents a place of education and community where we can invite visiting artists for residencies, offer short-term apprenticeships, and host small teaching workshops. This hotshop will allow us to pass on the knowledge that was so generously taught to us by our creative masters, and give back to our glass community.
WHAT DO SUPPORTERS RECEIVE?: Giving Back is something we consider a priority in our life's work. When you support our campaign, we want to thank you: check out exclusive gifts that we are offering in return for your generous donations. Each pledge tier and reward is listed on the right side of the screen, with more information below.
OUR PLAN: We have accomplished so much so far. WE ARE ALREADY MORE THAN HALFWAY THERE!
We bought the property seven years ago, just as Wren was born. We are now ready to move-in to our island home.
WORK ALREADY DONE : We have invested our time, money and passion into our dream glass studio. We have most of the shop equipment including a hot glass furnace and the sandblaster. The foundation is poured and the electricity has been upgraded. We have all of the heart and perseverance it takes to finish the job. We are fully committed to seeing this project through to completion.

Risks and challenges
Delays or fluctuations in productivity are a possibility with any building project. We have spoken with a structural engineer and initiated the permitting process. Drawing on advice from friends in Seattle who have built their own home glass studios, we feel we have a solid idea of what to expect. We have loads of family and friends who live on Lopez Island, who are ready with tool belts, large meal prep for work parties, and moral support.
Because will be very busy building our shop in the summer months, we are giving ourselves a realistic cushion for our expected delivery dates. We will be able to get some gifts out by October, or even earlier. But the Winter months will be a perfect time for us to hole-up and get down to business. All gifts will be completed and delivered by Spring 2019.
