What is All The Stations?
All The Stations is a project to travel to ALL 2,560 national railway stations in Britain over the spring and summer of 2017, and to create an online documentary film about the journey.
The project is led by Geoff Marshall and Vicki Pipe. Geoff is a video producer and transport vlogger, and Vicki is a museum education professional. Our transport videos have already accumulated over 5,000,000 hits on YouTube. In this latest project we will travel the length and breadth of the country to capture the current status of Britain’s railways, bringing them to life as we explore the reality of the places and people we encounter along the way.
It’s not all about us.
Through social media we want to share the whole experience with you, our supporters, and for your thoughts and ideas to contribute to the journey and the stories we tell.
• Each week we’ll post professionally edited videos on YouTube that document the journey and bring you closer to the experience.
• Every day we’ll be keeping you in touch with our travels using tweets, photographs and videos as it happens.
• At the end of the journey we’ll produce a feature length documentary, available on YouTube, which will include additional footage and insights into the project.
Why is this project important?
The rail network provides vital links across Britain for billions of passengers every year (1.7 billion in 2015). Whether for work or pleasure, for many of us the way we live our lives would just not be possible without the certainty of catching a train.
Within the next decade, changes to the rail network will be more pivotal than ever, and we want to capture this critical moment in Britain’s rail history, producing a snapshot of today’s railways for posterity.

Who are we talking to?
We are excited to have received the endorsement and generous support of the Rail Delivery Group.

To ensure the project becomes an asset for the future we are already in conversations with the National Railway Museum and London Transport Museum with the aim to donate all relevant material to their collections.
Where will your money go?
All the money we raise will go directly towards the delivery of this project and creating high quality videos, packed with rich and engaging content that reaches as many people as possible.
- Production and video editing - we have a dedicated team of editors working on the project to ensure consistent high quality videos.
- Accommodation - to make the most of our time we will need to find accommodation as close to stations as possible, wherever possible we will stay with friends and family to keep costs down.
- Web and media support - as a live project our social media channels, website and transfer of data will be key to engaging with people across the country.
- Equipment - we have most of the equipment we need, there are just one or two additional items which we would like to purchase, including a secondary camera, that is more compact and suitable for filming on the go.
- Admin costs - we will need some support at base camp to make sure we stay in the loop with all our supporters and don’t miss any opportunities to share the project more widely.
- Food - we will be on the road (sorry, rails) for three months, tea and sandwiches will keep the energy flowing!
STRETCH GOALS
The more money we raise, the bigger and better we can make the project. Thanks to your pledges we have reached our initial target and our first stretch goal, which brings you a guaranteed three professionally edited videos per week for the duration of the journey.
FIVE VIDEOS PER WEEK - Thank you for helping us make our second stretch goal which will allow us to make you four professionally edited videos per week, for the last day the final stretch goal is … £40,525 which will allow us to bring you five videos per week - 70 videos in total across the fourteen weeks that the journey will take.
Hear us talk more about stretch goals during our trip to Bat & Ball station.

Risks and challenges
THE UNEXPECTED! We plan to complete our journey in three months, but we will be live and need to be prepared for unexpected delays. We will build in flexibility to our schedule to help us account for the unknown. We will use our master route planning skills to aid us, but will also ask for help from you, our supporters, to give us local knowledge about how we might be able to re-plan and find alternative routes as needed. We're in this together!
DELAYED OUTPUT OF VIDEOS. At the end of each day, we will need to back up our footage and post it back to our editors in London. We're contacting companies to find the safest, most reliable method of delivery. Sometimes there may be a delay, but we will always keep you up to date and let you know what's happening.
WORKING WITH LARGE ORGANISATIONS. There are more than 20 Train Operating Companies in Great Britain. We are working in close collaboration with the Rail Delivery Group to gather support from everyone involved. We will keep you up to date through social media and let you know about any alterations or changes that we might need to make to our plans.
THIS IS NOT A RACE. In our excitement it may be easy to get carried away with just ticking off 'All The Stations' on the list, but we want to ensure we share rich stories and provide an exciting, engaging and comprehensive documentary. This is a team effort between Geoff and Vicki to cover 'All the Stations' with the camera rolling and we will reach out to you, our supporters, for your thoughts, ideas and experiences about the best and most unique places we should go along the way.
