About this project
Who are you?
Hi I'm Riley Tucker, I'm a relatively unknown composer and I want to change that by creating an Official Debut CD of music written exclusively by me! -- But I need your help!
Romantic Classical Music?
I think there are not many composers in the history of music who can match the beauty of the works by Chopin, Debussy, Beethoven, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Liszt among many others. I must say, my favorite composer is J.S. Bach (and in history many romantic composers have been influenced by him) but nevertheless, I truly enjoy romantic music. I enjoy listening to instrumental pieces of the genre and now my aim is to create a CD of music as a kind of tribute to these great composers.
Ok, I'm interested, so...?
I am planning on producing a CD called "Romantic Music is Bach" (sound familiar?) with all of my recordings on it and releasing it on Amazon Createspace. It costs 300 dollars for Finale, a composition and playback software that can play the pieces I have written back and save them to mp3. The CD would cost 10 dollars and would feature some piano pieces I have written as well as my more ambitious work, that written for Organ and Orchestra.
If all of your wildest dreams could come true?
My stretch goal(s) is(are):
A. Have the London Symphony Orchestra play one of my orchestra pieces and have it recorded. It would be one track on the CD. I have received a quote from Marc Stevens, the Concerts and Recordings Manager. It would be £120 per player per hour (with a minimum of three hours). Not including studio costs, engineer, conductor, mixing, editing, pressing, music preparation etc. , so you can see where the expenses add up!
B. Have a concert of all my pieces played by a orchestra in a concert, with some other romantic music and this would be recorded and compiled onto a CD. It be a calling card for execs in the music industry or film industry. I have a dream of one day writing music for movies (I went to college and graduated with a major in Film and minor in Music)
And the last word is?
I appreciate whatever support you can offer toward this project. It's worth mentioning that there is no way I can achieve this project goal without your support!
Risks and challenges
The greatest risk of this project, or any kickstarter project is that it will fail. Kickstarter.com is a high risk creative platform in that it is all-or-nothing. If the funding goal is reached in the campaign time span (30 days), your credit card will be charged for whatever reward you pledged, but if it isn't reached (even if it's close like $299.99,) it will be like you never pledged at all; your credit card will not be charged a penny.
The challenge to this project is that it will only feature electronic recordings of the pieces I wrote if 300 dollars is reached. Digital is better than nothing but I must say, the sound of a real Stradivarius Violin is far and away better than its virtual counterpart. If this project reaches 5,000, you will get to hear the difference, but anything less than that, you will only receive the CD of electronic recordings. That said, you will still get a good idea of what my pieces sounds like and for 300 dollars, and considering it's the year 2013, the virtual sampling has gotten a lot better than it was even 5 years ago.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
